Job Purpose
To be responsible for leading the country P&O function. Partner with the CP to help craft and translate business plans into a Country P&O strategy; to be responsible for managing P&O processes and achieving high standards of service delivery; to work with Region and Global to ensure that IM and Novartis-wide programs and policies are aligned with country operations and are implemented.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategy & Planning
- Work closely with country president and leadership team members in the development and implementation of the Business plan, highlighting potential P&O-related business opportunities.
- Translate the CPO Business plans into P&O strategy and operational plans
- Be active key member of local leadership team and proactively establish strong relationship with client group as well as the extended P&O community to understand their needs and requirements and challenges.
- Ensuring that the implementation of a cohesive P&O strategy is in line with overall Business strategy.
- Provide strategic and tactical workforce planning in alignment with the client’s Business plan.
- Contract and set expectations with Unit Head/ leadership team members on what services P&O will provide and what services the Line will own.
- Drive/participate in budget planning discussions.
- Develop strategy, processes and standards for all associates, recruiting, selection, and staffing activities in close cooperation with the respective Staffing expert(s).
- Drive high level staffing searches and placements. Ensure rewards packages are crafted to attract and retain key talent necessary to achieve the Business goals, in close cooperation with the respective rewards expert(s).

Monitoring & Control
- Drive personnel cost planning, performing periodic cost and productivity analyses to support Finance and the Line in maintaining workforce budgets.
- Ensure adherence to relevant labor and employment law and, when necessary, manage labor relations, including relations with external labor organizations.
- Ensure compliance with legal framework.
- Sponsor key P&O Projects.
- Ensure adoption and adherence to NVS P&O practices and policies.
- Define P&O KPIs against business plan and drive actions to ensure achievement.

People & Organization
- Be responsible for the leadership, development and coordination of the Business Partners, Specialist and Shared Services functions in the CPO.
- Coach/drive senior leadership team on key P&O processes, e.g. Performance management, OTR, succession planning and talent management for predefined population, in close cooperation with the respective expert(s).
- Coach assigned leadership team and support them in their coaching and mentoring activities in their teams.
- Ensure effective training and development for all associates, following learning priorities and guidelines defined by Corporate and Global Pharma, and act as channel to communicate learning needs to the appropriate specialist unit.
- Drive cultural change and foster diversity and inclusion within the CPO.

**Minimum requirements**

What you’ll bring to the role:

- University degree
- 10-15 years of experience in P&O related field
- Graduate degree in business or management; MBA and/or scientific degrees preferred
- People and organization professional specialization ideal
- Fluent in English
