We at Miracles Asia empower people and families to learn and thrive. We’re there for people experiencing addiction and work with people with co-occurring mental health disorders. We work to empower people with individualized information, skills, and tools that they will need to live a healthy, happy life beyond rehab.

**Position Purpose**

The Support Worker contributes to the provision of a safe and hospitable environment for clients voluntarily seeking recovery from acute and long-term addiction, by:

- actively supporting clients to identify and commence to achieve their recovery goals
- encouraging and supporting clients to complete their individual Relapse Prevention Plan prior to discharge from residential care
- supporting clients as they experience possible withdrawal and discomfort during the early phase of their recovery, in conjunction with the Therapists and Registered Nurse
- facilitating and encouraging client participation in all program activities; supervising and assisting clients with daily living activities as required

**Provision of Support**
- Helping clients adhere to the program
- Communicate and build supportive relationships with clients to assist them to make best use of their individual program, and to make informed decisions about their future when they leave the service
- Review and discuss progress with the clients in relation to their day-to-day programs and individual Relapse Prevention Plans and inform other Miracles staff of clients’ progress where relevant
- Work with clients to undertake and complete program activities, and assist them to develop, review and implement their individual Relapse Prevention Plans in conjunction with the Clinical Team.

**Support Staff Duties/Responsibilities**
- Client intake upon client arrival: bag checks, completing all necessary forms, etc.
- Orientation for clients of the facility and Miracles' schedule upon admission
- Preparing Program schedule every week
- Preparing morning handover document
- Scheduling online therapists’ 1:1 individual therapy sessions for clients
- Assisting clients to set up their online sessions with their therapist and the psychiatrist
- Weekly half-hour 1:1 support sessions with your caseload of inhouse clients
- Assisting clients to set up their Zoom sessions with the therapists and Dr. Harshal (for the first 2 weeks or until the client is ready to do this on their own) - per shift, a support worker will be
- Facilitating psychoed / relapse prevention groups
- Bag checks upon clients returning from offsite activities
- Making sure technology (Zoom) is set for morning check-in group and evening Miracles Meeting for clients and alumni
- Support staff scheduling (if this is your designated task)
- Bringing clients to the nurse for urine tests and breathalyzer tests (during admission, if randomly needed, upon returning from a non-staff escorted off-site event)
- Overnight shifts, if needed
- Room searches, if needed
- Escorting and/or driving clients to offsite activities
- Scheduling client post-discharge continuing therapy sessions with their Miracles’ therapist and keeping the record
- Proper and timely documentation in Miracles Asia's Electronic Health Records (EHR) system
- Adhering to policies and procedures
- Weekly half-hour 1:1 support sessions with your caseload of aftercare (post-discharge) clients

**Selection Criteria**
- If you are yourself in recovery, a minimum of 2 years of current sobriety.
- Proficiency in ensuring high clinical standards
- Ability to motivate clients for treatment and recovery
- Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to exchange information and interact with treatment team and provide clients with counseling support and motivation
- Proficient in written and verbal communication
- English proficiency required

**Workplace Relationships**
- Reports to Managing Director and Clinical Director
- Collaborates with other Support Workers, Peer Support Workers, Facilitators of Miracles Asia Activities and Program, and the Clinical Team
- Personal Accountability
- Compliance with Miracles Asia’s values, code of conduct, policies and procedures where relevant
- Work collaboratively with Miracles Asia employees and external stakeholders in accordance with Miracles Asia’s values and professional standards of behavior
