Production Planner Assistant Manager

Overview of the role

We are looking for an experienced and driven Assistant Production Planning Manager to lead our production planning team and coordinate end-to-end planning activities for complex, high-mix, low-volume vehicle conversion projects.

Position Purpose

The Assistant Production Planning Manager is responsible for managing the production planning team and coordinating all planning activities to ensure smooth, efficient, and timely operations. This role oversees production scheduling, material readiness coordination, progress monitoring, and cross-functional alignment. It also plays an important role in supporting engineering changes, new model launches, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities as follows:

Knowledge responsibilities

·       Maintain a thorough understanding of production planning and control processes, including scheduling, capacity planning, and workflow optimization.

·       Stay updated on ERP/MRP systems and production data analysis tools for effective planning and monitoring.

·       Keep current with company standards, vehicle conversion processes, and regulatory compliance within the manufacturing environment.

HR Responsibilities:

·       Supervise and guide the production planning team to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement in planning activities.

·       Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes accountability, teamwork, and professional development.

·       Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.

Functional responsibilities

·       Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to ensure efficient workflow, optimal use of resources, and alignment with customer delivery dates.

·       Coordinate closely with Procurement and Materials Planning teams to secure timely material availability for all production projects.

·       Monitor daily and weekly production progress, proactively resolving issues, identifying delays, and raising concerns for potential risks impacting customer loading dates.

·       Support capacity planning and workforce allocation to balance production targets with available resources.

·       Prepare and analyze production performance reports and customer demand forecasts, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.

·       Collaborate with Product Development Engineering and Program Management on new designs, developments, or vehicle variants for Fleet Management and project-based programs.

·       Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to ensure smooth implementation, proper material readiness, and minimal disruption to production.

·       Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce cost, and strengthen cross-functional planning coordination.

·       Ensure on-time delivery of modified and converted vehicles while complying with safety, quality, and customer standards.

Financial Responsibilities

·       Optimize production scheduling and material utilization to reduce downtime and operational costs.

·       Control and monitor inventory levels to ensure efficiency and minimize excess or obsolete stock.

·       Support the implementation of cost-effective production strategies through accurate forecasting and planning.

Background and experience

·       Bachelor's degree in Industrial engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Production Engineering, or related field.

· –8 years' experience in production or materials planning, with proven leadership or supervisory responsibility.

·       Strong expertise in production scheduling, capacity planning, and ERP/MRP systems (SAP/Oracle or equivalent).

·       Skilled in problem-solving, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
