Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative Instruction: Work alongside the Lead Teacher to deliver lessons that support students' English language development and foundational academic skills. Assist in creating and adapting learning materials to meet diverse student needs.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and well-structured classroom environment. Help manage behavior, ensure student safety, and foster a culture of respect and collaboration.
  • Student Support: Provide whole group, individual and small-group support to students, ensuring that all children receive the help they need to succeed.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Co-plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate lessons and activities that are aligned with the BASIS curriculum and Early Years educational best practices.
  • Supervision Duties: Take part in supervision duties as determined by the teaching team. This may include lunch duty, playground duty, before school duty, and supporting students during library and PE classes.
  • Assessment and Documentation: Help observe and document student progress, and participate in parent-teacher conferences and other reporting activities as needed.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in professional development sessions, both individually and in collaboration with teaching teams, to enhance instructional practices and classroom strategies.
  • Communication: Work closely with other teachers and staff to ensure consistent communication regarding student needs and classroom goals. Establish strong relationships with parents and guardians to support student development.
  • School Culture: Contribute to building a vibrant and positive school culture that promotes shared learning, curiosity, and respect.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field. A teaching credential is preferred but hiring may occur while the candidate is in process of acquiring a teaching credential.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting is highly desirable. Experience in a bilingual or international school environment is a plus.
