The Executive Director (ED) will have a strategic role in operating a "best in class" older adult residence in Thailand. The ED is responsible for successfully executing all operations including: Health Services; Customer Service; Business Functions; Recreation/Health Club Programs; oversight for Housekeeping, Food and Beverage/Culinary and Engineering/Maintenance; and Human Resources. The position requires a continuous quality improvement focus to ensure resident and employee satisfaction and the maximization of the financial performance of the facility.A thorough knowledge of the HQ operator and the ability to impart this knowledge to the multi-disciplinary senior management team is essential. The ED will also require a deep understanding of, and experience of working within, Thai culture. This position will require travel to Toronto Canada. The ED will be responsible for deploying and managing improvement projects, education, monitoring and improving wellness metrics, fiscal responsibility, quality assurance and building effective relationships with residents, families, and referral sources.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervising continuous staff development.
  • Creating a quarterly quality report on clinical and facility services.
  • Ensuring resident and staff satisfaction.
  • Evolving best practices.
  • Preparing the facility for accreditation (CARF and JCI).
  • Ensuring that vendors (subcontracted servicers) are working to key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensuring financial success of the residence.
  • Managing the relationship with the owner/developer of the facility.
  • Reporting to the Operator on a monthly basis, or as required, using an agreed upon business score card.

Leading Clinical Services and Operations Team

  • Working collaboratively with Chief Medical Officer to provide key recommendations and plans to improve and enhance clinical operations and services.
  • Providing evidenced based recommendations to evolve clinical and wellness standards to continue to innovate and enhance programs.
  • Leading the participating in the recruitment and the development of the management team.
  • Ensuring that goals are being translated to the team as they relate to resident satisfaction and well-being.
  • Creating and nurturing a property environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, continuous improvement and a passion for providing service.
  • Providing excellent customer service by being readily available/approachable for all residents and staff members.
  • Taking proactive approaches when dealing with resident and team members' concerns.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensuring that policies and clinical manuals are regularly updated.
  • Assessing clinical practices in relation to legislative frameworks and best practice standards.
  • Analyzing operations and wellness metrics to understand areas of excellence and areas of targeted improvements.
  • Implementing quality assurance reviews and action plans.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of quality improvement activities.
  • Assisting in performing annual quality audits.
  • Endorsing HQ Operator model in the facility management and in clinical practice.

Managing Profitability

  • Setting and adhering to annual budgets.
  • Supporting the evaluation of financial effectiveness and providing key recommendations to improve and streamline operations while maintaining best in class services.
  • Participating in business operations reviews delivering on portfolio performance in relations to key performance, operations and clinical metrics.
  • Reviewing financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measuring productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
  • Assisting with marketing efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience with a track record of success in a client-focused and complex multi-stakeholder and partner environments.
  • Experience working in a hospitality sector, previous employment in a healthcare environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge in selecting, working, and setting key performance indicators with vendors (subcontracted services).
  • Solid understanding of business planning processes and key business metrics that need to be achieved.
  • Must have demonstrated sound financial knowledge and understanding of how decisions can affect/impact results (operating margins, occupancy, etc.).
  • Property management and maintenance experience is an asset.
  • Sales and marketing experience is preferred to drive superior performance/results.
  • Thorough understanding of effective HR practices and policies in Thailand.
  • Experience in the field of geriatrics and knowledge of sector-specific trends and initiatives is preferred.
