Develops IT strategies to increase the organization's efficiency and the quality of digital products and tools offered to internal and external stakeholders.
Leads the development of evidence-based documents, technical analysis, recommendation reports and feasibility studies on IT matters.
Aligns the organization's IT infrastructure and product architecture with its strategic priorities within UN rules and regulations, in particular by identifying the need for new systems or by bringing modifications to existing systems.
Enhances UNDRR's business processes with technology by making them more efficient, convenient, effective and reliable.
Leads IT procurement exercises and assists administration by identifying options, vendors and contractors that offer the best solutions and services.
Contributes to the managerial functions of UNDRR by preparing briefs, reports, studies and work plan proposals to achieve organizational successes related to IT functions.
Represents UNDRR in any IT related task forces or meetings within the UN Secretariat.
B. Plans and manages the design and development of complex information systems such as internal and external web portals, data systems and knowledge management platforms and information management projects.Liaises with Programme Officers and users on all aspects of work, and during all phases of design and development.
Proposes recommendations to management for further prioritization of projects.
Monitors project progress against plans, milestones, time and cost estimates, metrics and performance measures and reports to management.
Supports development of UNDRR's data strategy and roll-out.
Serves as the main liaison and represents the IT Team in various internal and external committees and review bodies as required.
Serves as the main IT liaison for vendors and other UN agencies that provide services to UNDRR.
C. Oversees the IDTS unit, prioritizing and supervising work of the staff members in the unit to deliver products aligned to UNDRR's strategy in a timely manner.Oversees maintenance of UNDRR ICT and data systems, ensures business continuity planning is up to date and guides implementation of regular data and systems safety and security initiatives.
Provides leadership and directs the unit, plans and allocates work assignments, provides guidance and mentoring for staff, fosters teamwork and improved communications among all members of the team. Prepares workplan and evaluate staff performance through regular dialogue and feedback. Recruits team members as necessary.
Supervises all aspects of design and technology work and ensures adherence to standards and processes. Delegates tasks as necessary.
Prioritizes work packages and monitors individual progress against plans and milestones.

EducationAdvanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in computer science, information systems, administration, public information or related field is required. A first level university degree combined with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Job - Specific QualificationA certification in project management (PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or equivalent) is desirable.
A certification in IT service management (ITIL or equivalent) is desirable.
Work ExperienceA minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience, including in the private sector, in the planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of IT standards and processes, information systems, including websites, digital asset
