This position is located in the Enterprise Solutions Service, Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS), hosted by ESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand. The incumbent reports to an Information Systems Officer within OICT/ESS

**Responsibilities**:
Under the direct supervision of the Information Systems Officer and general supervision of the Enterprise Solutions Service Chief, the Information Systems Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

- Drafts correspondence and communications; including work plan revisions and other related issues, as well as prepares unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the field; conducts research on new technologies; performs benchmarking and proposes new acquisitions; assists in the implementation of new technologies.
- Provides guidance and training to new/junior staff; plans day-to-day work and supervises other staff as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A recognized first-level degree in computer science, information technology or a related field is desirable.

Job - Specific Qualification
Passing the GGST is required for recruitment consideration in the General Service and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat. Successful passing of the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) in English or French or successful passing an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices Away from Headquarters, may be accepted in lieu of the GGST. Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software design and development, technical writing or related area is required.

A minimum of 7 years' hands-on technical experience in Siebel Open UI configuration, eScript, JavaScript, workflow and Siebel administration is required.

A minimum of 2 years' experience in Java, Spring, J2EE and Oracle SQL is desirable.

A minimum of two years' experience developing Soap and Rest API web services is desirable.

Experience with Oracle BI Publisher and Linux system is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Must have passed the United Nations Global General Service Test (GGST) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices Away from Headquarters.
