City Expansion is now finding strong leadership members to join our motivated team. As a member of the City Expansion team, you will be responsible for overseeing, leading, and shaping the entire operations and go-to-market plan of the business in all areas in Thailand where it is the key growth driver for all Grab’s services. Our team operates with an experimental mindset and is willing to deep dive into both opportunities and challenges.
**Get to Know the Role**:
We are looking for Head, City operation and expansion. You will be reporting directly to the Head of Cities, and working closely with Strategy and Special project managers. Our main focus is strategically on GrabFood. There will be 4 city managers, who manage regions across Thailand, reporting to you. In the meantime, there will be around > 50 team members under your responsibility.
**The Day-to-Day Activities**:
1. Lead and manage the operation and expansion team (60%)
- Driving for Grab's business growth in all cities across Thailand
- Manage the dynamic and high-performing team of > 50 staff
- Manage headcount budget and approval on hiring / offboarding
- Ensure that Grab's business runs smoothly. In case of any app issue, you must be the gatekeeper that the team/staff can reach out to and raise the issue to the right channel/team to resolve the issue.
- Cooperate with the merchant operations team to ensure that we always provide better services to our merchants.
- Ensure that resource allocation and performance tracking within the team
2. Lead strategic planning and studies for top-of-agenda strategic topics (30%)
- Understand upcountry market, local insight, and able to integrate that into cities strategies.
- Ensure a well-coordinated business strategy with other key stakeholders
- Drive analysis and planning of high-impact strategic topics e.g. providing a fact base, problem identification, structured problem solving, advising on implementation
- Understand valuable business insights and strategically plan city strategy to act upon (e.g. landscape and competitor analysis, customer segmentation, asset optimisation, product pricing and spend optimisation)
3. Lead execution and operation of high-impact initiatives (10%)
- Lead project management from initiation to closure
- Ensure to provide significant guidance to your direct reports for execution
- Work with stakeholders to clearly define objectives, success criteria, scope, deliverables, required resources, etc.
**The Must-Haves**:
- ** Minimum 3-5 years of experience** in team management in a tech company or fast-paced working environment in strategy or business development.
- ** Strong leadership with team management skills**:
- Able to lead a large high performing team to continue over-delivering to Grab OKRs. Also, able to coach the team for them to continue growing in their career path.
- ** Strategic/critical thinking**:
- Able to form operation and expansion strategies with the team both top-down and bottom-up.
- ** Data analytics** - Able to read the data provided and extract key insights to form strategies. Able to work with raw data would be a plus.
- ** Decision making** - Able to make a trade-off and impactful decision that aligns with core business and main strategies focus.
- ** 360 Stakeholder management** - Able to cooperate, get by-in, and get things done by others with full cooperation and willingness.
- ** Communication** - Able to communicate clearly with different stakeholders to both high-level management and local staff.
- ** Initiator** - able to throw in big WHAT IF and light up new ideas with rationale attached.
- ** Cultures** - Able to work independently and in teams. Open-minded and not emotional.
- ** Must be fluent in Business English**
