Analyst - Fuels

A primary function of this Analyst role is to help update projections for fuel prices primarily gas/LNG, but also hydrogen/ammonia, coal, and other fuels, under the guidance of senior team members. For our Asia projections, our Fuels team leverages global fuel price projections from AFRY’s Fuels team in Oxford, and applies knowledge about local contracts, conditions, price formulae, domestic sources and regulations to develop a view of local fuels prices and projections.
- Gather, analyse, interpret, both basic and complex data related to the fuels sector for a wide variety of projects, with guidance from senior fuels team members.
- Research, interpret, and assist in providing an informed understanding on fuels sector regulations and policy spanning Southeast and East Asian regions, with guidance from senior team members.
- Assist in developing and improving our economic models for liquefied natural gas, hydrogen and ammonia projects, with guidance from senior team members.
**Qualifications**:
- Analysts are likely to be recent graduates with studies focussing on the energy sector and/or economics.
- We undertake a lot of complex analysis, a good proportion of which is numerical - so we are looking for people with an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis. This includes the ability to pay attention to detail and use MS Excel proficiently.
- Virtually all the work we do requires team working, so if you have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others within a project team and wider office environment you will fit in well.
- In addition, report-writing is a core part of our work and so we are also looking for the ability to explain complex information in a clear and logical way, in English, using both MS Word and PowerPoint.
- You will be working in a commercial environment against budgets and deadlines, so you will need to be able to think for yourself, be pro-active, and have a business-oriented mindset.
- If you have an understanding of Asian fuels market dynamics, fuels commercial arrangements, and/or energy policy, this is a definite advantage.
- You need to be fluent in English. Your ability to speak other languages is also an advantage.
- Coding skills, e.g. Python, MS SQL or VBA, are an advantage.
