The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote sustainable and inclusive development and regional connectivity in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership with policy oriented research and analysis, normative support and technical assistance and capacity building, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.

The Conference Management Unit (CMU) manages and operates the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand. CMU provides full conference services for official UN meetings and events hosted by external clients. It also actively promotes the use of the UNCC to other UN Agencies and related bodies, which are provided with conference rooms, equipment and services including audio-visual and technical support, exhibition space and logistics support, catering, as well as office equipment and video-telecommunication facilities.

This position is located in the Conference Management Unit, Commercial and General Services Section, in the Division of Administration. The incumbent reports to the Chief of the Conference Management Unit.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Conference Management Unit, and overall supervision of the Chief of Commercial and General Services Section. The incumbent is required to perform the following functions:

- Manages projects involving feasibility studies, data analysis, systems analysis, design, development and implementation of new, moderately complex systems, and/or participates as a member of a development team with responsibility for major components of the more complex systems.
- Develops detailed system and other functional specifications and user documentation for conference systems including integration of conference management and simultaneous interpretation system with meeting platforms such as Zoom and MS Teams, to support virtual/hybrid meetings with/without remote simultaneous interpretation.
- Manages and oversees different conference technology projects for the operations and enhancement of the UNCC, in close collaboration with the Information Management, Communications and Technology Section (IMCTS), and the Facilities Management Unit (FMU).
- Provides advice on the management, design, engineering, installation, operation, documentation and maintenance of the UNCC conference facilities, systems and equipment necessary for Conference Rooms’ audio-visual and conference management systems.
- Provides technical support for the development of specifications, modifications and installation of systems and equipment required for broadcasting, conference control, digital signage, closed captioning, media recording, retention and distribution of all media to and from all internal and external clients.
- Organizes and performs unit and integrated testing, designing and utilizing test bases; assists users in acceptance testing.
- Develops training materials, operating and user manuals; trains staff in assigned systems.
- Develops innovative process automation solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the Unit and ensures appropriate planning and training of those responsible.
- Researches, analyzes and evaluates new technologies and makes recommendations for their deployment.
- Participates in writing reports and papers on systems-related topics, system requirements, information strategy, etc.
- Facilitates communications between CMU and its clients for good client relations. Serves as coordinator in the development of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between the client and CMU, for either specific IT services or general technology support, including any charge back mechanisms.
- Handles all aspects of contract administration including establishment of service level agreements with vendors and monitors continuous provision of quality services.
- Provides guidance to, and may supervise, new/junior staff, consultants, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required.
