Director – IP Design

Job Description
In this role, you will provide second-line, director-level leadership for Nokia's IP Design & Planning organization in India, leading a large, multi-layered organization of 200+ professionals through first-line managers. You will hold end-to-end accountability for the execution of large-scale IP network deployment, modernization, and transformation programs, ensuring consistent delivery excellence. This role demands a rare combination of deep IP networking expertise, proven people leadership at scale, strong customer-facing credibility, and rigorous operational execution in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

• Lead the IP Design & Planning organization in India, managing large teams through multiple line managers.
• Own end-to-end delivery and transformation of IP networks across Core, Aggregation, and Access domains.
• Act as a senior technical and delivery interface to CDO/CTO-level stakeholders and strategic customers.
• Drive execution of large-scale IP network deployments, modernization, and transformation programs for Tier-1 CSPs.
• Ensure delivery excellence across quality, cost, timelines, and customer satisfaction.
• Govern subcontractor and partner-based deployments, ensuring cost control, delivery predictability, and quality compliance.
• Collaborate with global teams to support international programs and adopt best practices.
• Build and develop senior managers and technical leaders through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
• Influence strategic decisions related to IP architecture, design standards, planning methodologies, and delivery models.
• Establish and maintain strong delivery governance, risk management, and performance reporting.

Key Skills And Experience
You have:

• 20+ years of overall experience in IP networking, including design, planning, deployment, and transformation.
• Strong technical background in IP networks, with proven expertise in Core, Aggregation, and Access architectures, including large-scale IP network design and evolution.
• Proven experience at Director / Second-Line Manager level, leading large organizations through multiple line managers.
• Demonstrated experience delivering large, complex IP network programs for Tier-1 Communication Service Providers, preferably in India.
• Experience interfacing with CDO / CTO / senior executive stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of delivery governance, cost management, and quality assurance.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.

It would be nice if you also had:

• International or multi-country delivery experience, experience working in global matrix organizations.
• Exposure to large-scale network transformation, automation, or cloud-based networking programs.
• Project / program management certifications (PMP, Agile, SAFe).
