Main purpose of the role:

  • Strategic direction:
    Assist the Group Sustainability & Corporate Communications Director in defining Group Sustainability targets and roadmap against SeaChange 2030 commitments in Environmental topics (e.g., 42% carbon footprint reduction by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050)
  • Best-in-class environmental impact:
    Define standards and drive design / execution of environmental impact direction and risk mitigation programs; ensure compliance through training, proactive communication and audits

Key accountabilities:

Strategic direction

  • Support Group Sustainability & Corporate Communications Director in the design of the Group Sustainability targets and roadmap across relevant Environmental topics; work with internal and external stakeholders as needed to align on key climate goals and strategies
  • Collaborate with Sustainability Data & Reporting team to track group-wide plant performance against critical Environmental KPIs, generate key insights on key opportunities or persistent gaps, and identify interventions to deliver improvements
  • Bring in regular view of external best practices and partner with BU Sustainability Directors, ESG controllers and cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, responsible sourcing) to ensure that Thai Union operations and our suppliers maintain best-in-class Environmental compliance

Standards and programs

  • Develop Group Sustainability policies and standards across relevant Environmental topics; ensure cascade to relevant teams across Thai Union in collaboration with BU Sustainability Directors and ESG Controllers
  • Monitor regulatory changes, keep watch on external best practices and update Group environment policies and recommended practices as required
  • Design environmental impact reduction programs and initiatives, including for Thai Union operations and supplier development programs focused on reducing environmental impact across the supply chain
  • Collaborate with BU Sustainability Directors, ESG Controllers and cross-functional teams (e.g., responsible sourcing) to implement sustainable practices and technologies; ensure learnings from past implementations are incorporated and provide ongoing technical advisory support

Technical expertise and capability development

  • Act as the contact point for all internal stakeholders on climate change and related topics; provide oversight into efforts across Thai Union to reduce
  • scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions in partnership with Group SHE and plant-based teams
  • Work with Group SHE Capability CoE to define groupwide competency requirements on Environmental topics, particularly for plant-based teams
  • Coordinate with Group Sustainability Capability CoE to design and implement environmental training programs, including Train-the-trainer sessions and cascading key environment communications to all plants

Advocacy and commercialization

  • Represent Thai Union in relevant forums and discussions to advocate for sustainable seafood practices
  • Partner with BU Sustainability Directors to identify opportunities for Thai Union's climate change efforts to be leveraged more effectively by commercial teams to strengthen customer relationships, enhance brand preference for Thai Union and commercialize low-carbon products
