Vice President of Business Incubation and Business Development (BIBD)

Role Purpose

To drive sustainable growth and diversification of SAT by leading business incubation, strategic business development, and product innovation across both core and emerging industries including Automation, Electric Vehicles (EV), and Agricultural Machinery. This position serves as a strategic growth catalyst, responsible for transforming market opportunities, technologies, and customer insights into viable business ventures and market-ready products that align with SAT's corporate vision and long-term transformation roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Business Leadership

  • Formulate and execute strategic roadmaps for new and existing business portfolios, ensuring alignment with SAT's corporate direction and sustainability objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance to accelerate diversification, innovation, and cross-business synergy.
  • Collaborate closely with corporate functions to ensure integration between strategy, operations, and investment plans.

2. Business Incubation & Innovation Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new business opportunities through structured market scanning, feasibility assessment, and financial modeling.
  • Lead incubation projects through all stages — concept creation, prototyping, pilot validation, and commercialization.
  • Establish and maintain an innovation governance framework that drives agility, scalability, and market responsiveness.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous innovation across functions.

3. Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Develop and implement business models and go-to-market strategies for emerging industries.
  • Build strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures to accelerate market entry and strengthen competitive advantage.
  • Drive revenue growth and customer acquisition through data-driven market strategies and differentiated value propositions.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, investment proposals, and partnership agreements to optimize business outcomes.

4. Product Development & Commercialization

  • Lead the end-to-end Product Development (NPD) lifecycle, from opportunity identification and concept design to market launch and lifecycle management.
  • Integrate customer insights, R&D capabilities, and manufacturing excellence to develop products with high market impact and scalability.
  • Implement Stage-Gate or Agile NPD methodologies to enhance speed-to-market and development efficiency.
  • Monitor product portfolio performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure sustained profitability and competitiveness.

5. Portfolio & Investment Management

  • Oversee diversified business portfolios to ensure performance, profitability, and strategic coherence.
  • Evaluate and manage investments, M&A, and JV projects, ensuring alignment with corporate growth objectives and risk appetite.
  • Monitor ROI, CAPEX efficiency, and portfolio contribution to overall business performance.

6. Technology & Innovation Integration

  • Champion the adoption of advanced technologies and digital solutions to improve operational efficiency, quality, and value creation.
  • Build strategic collaborations with universities, research institutes, and startups to accelerate innovation capability.
  • Integrate sustainability and ESG principles into new business and product strategies.

7. Financial & Operational Governance

  • Define and track KPIs to measure success of business incubation, product innovation, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance, financial discipline, and risk management policies.
  • Provide strategic reports and business insights to the Executive Committee and Board.

8. Organization & Talent Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team combining business strategists, product innovators, and market developers.
  • Develop organizational capability and leadership pipelines to support new business and product growth.
  • Promote a culture of agility, collaboration, and innovation excellence across the enterprise.

Qualifications:

  • Age not over 50 years old.
  • Bachelor's – Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics and related fields, Engineering background is advantage.
  • Experience at an executive management level (Managing Director, VP) with at least 3 years in Managing multiple companies or corporate group operations.
  • Solid background in Managing Joint Ventures (JV), Multinational Corporations or leading New Business, JV, and M&A projects.
  • Strong network or professional involvement with agricultural machinery or industrial institutions is an advantage.
  • Visionary and forward-thinking, with strong strategic leadership and high achievement orientation.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, initiative, and commitment to success.
  • Fluent in English (Business Level); proficiency in Chinese or Japanese will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong capability in identifying new business opportunities and forming strategic partnerships or alliances to drive business growth.
