The role holder is expected to identify and facilitate acquiring, retaining, and expanding relationships with desirable clients from the ISB/MNC segments, by proactively identifying opportunities and accelerating deal volume as well as delivering innovative high-value solutions across all product lines and gaining sustainable returns from China outbound for the Country (Thailand).

The job holder reports to the Entity Manager and the Functional Manager and has the following dimensions:

- Formulate and execute business strategies for driving China corridor (Inbound).
- With the support of China GRMs/GRBs and China Outbound Team, actively tracking inbound investments of Chinese investors (POEs, SOEs, investment funds) into Thailand as well as supporting and executing identified business opportunities and generating leads across a range of products and services.
- Increasing the number of prospects by close collaboration with GRMs, other CDMs, RMs (ISB/MNC), product partners and the wider ecosystem (Embassy, chambers, intermediaries, trade associations, key influencers in the community)
- Grow sustainable revenues from the existing customer portfolio and through targeted acquisition of new quality customers across the country (Thailand) and aligning with business strategy. Further, develop effective strategies to manage customer relationships, anticipate customer needs and provide a superior quality service. Job holder needs to take a proactive approach to both existing and new client planning (incl. customer contact plans and pipeline management) across the portfolio collaborating with product partners and senior management.
- Contribute to regular business updates required at country/regional/global level with respect to the BRI/SEF and other initiatives as appropriate.
- Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of deals and customer information on relevant Group systems enhanced by developing a strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders throughout the corridor
- Keep abreast of external factors influencing international business e.g. economic, cultural, geographical, procedural and regulatory requirements
- Act as a team player, supporting development of a positive, collaborative culture consistent with Group Values
- Take ownership of operational matters in the local jurisdiction relating to China clients. Provide full operational support on the ground to Chinese GRBs/GRMs.
- Be an ambassador for HSBC and HBCN GRM team as well as develop the bank’s profile in the International Business communities. Participate in internal and external business events, road shows and seminars as required by the business and network extensively with key influencers for the China corridor flows.
Requirements
- First-hand experience and knowledge of Mainland China including strong business acumen and commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (written and spoken)
- Degree in Banking and/or Finance or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in banking industry
- A sound understanding of corporate banking credit and flow products/services
- Knowledge of group systems, including CARM, CME, Omnia and ORC would be beneficial
- The ability to familiarize themselves with more complicated event financing and structuring transactions and support their origination
- Experience in managing a varied pipeline of transactions through to successful conclusion
- A proven track record of success in a business development role would be an advantage. Including ability in identifying and meeting customer needs through matching a broad range of products and services
- Familiarity with dealing with non-client external parties including Key Business Introducers
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
