Procurement Engineer

Main Purpose:

To manage and execute the procurement of engineering materials, equipment, and services in compliance with technical specifications, cost targets, and project schedules. The role ensures that procurement activities support project requirements and align with company policies, quality standards, and budget constraints through effective sourcing, negotiation, and coordination with engineering and project teams.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Review and analyze engineering drawings and technical specifications to define procurement requirements.
• Prepare and issue Request for Quotation (RFQ) to suppliers, and follow up on both technical and commercial proposals.
• Evaluate and compare supplier quotations based on technical compliance, pricing, and delivery terms.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality and reliability.
• Oversee the end-to-end procurement process from order placement through delivery, ensuring timely acquisition of required materials and services.
• Coordinate closely with engineering, project, production, logistics, and finance teams to ensure procured items meet specifications and project timelines.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to verify that purchased items meet quality standards, and resolve any quality issues directly with suppliers.
• Conduct cost analysis and implement strategies to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality.
• Promote local procurement by sourcing from regional/local suppliers to support the community economy, reduce logistics costs, and improve delivery efficiency.
• Identify, develop, and maintain a database of qualified local vendors, and regularly assess their performance and product quality.
• Monitor purchase orders and delivery schedules, and provide regular updates to stakeholders to ensure transparency.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation in compliance with internal policies and ERP system requirements.
• Ensure all procurement activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, while staying up to date on industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Generate and present procurement reports including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory status to management.
• Support other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or procurement manager.

Qualification:

Formal Education:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial Engineering or related fields)
• Additional training or education in procurement, supply chain, or business administration is a plus.

Work Experience:

• Minimum 2–3 years of working experience in procurement or engineering-related roles
• Experience in construction, MEP systems, industrial projects, or manufacturing environments is preferred

Specific Qualification for Position:

• Strong knowledge of engineering materials, technical specifications, and ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Capable of conducting technical and commercial evaluation of vendor quotations
• Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor management
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or technical drawing software is an advantage
• Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, TASCO or other procurement systems)
• Understanding of local and international procurement processes and regulations
• Good planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
