IB Physics Teacher

Responsibilities

Instruction & Classroom Leadership

• Plan, teach, and assess IB Physics courses aligned with IB Diploma Program standards.
• Develop engaging lessons that promote inquiry, experimentation, scientific reasoning, and deep conceptual understanding.
• Incorporate Theory of Knowledge, internal assessments, lab work, and extended investigations into student learning.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies and technologies to support diverse learners.

Assessment & Reporting

• Design and administer assessments in line with IB requirements, including formative and summative assessments.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and communicate progress with students and families.
• Prepare students for IB examinations and help them understand the assessment criteria.

Curriculum Development & Collaboration

• Participate in ongoing curriculum review and refinement consistent with school and IB policies.
• Work collaboratively with science faculty and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure coherence and innovation in instruction.
• Attend regular department and school meetings.

Student Support & Development

• Support students' intellectual, social, and personal growth in a diverse, multicultural environment.
• Support students' internal assessment planning, lab safety procedures, and effective use of laboratory resources.
• May serve in pastoral or advisory roles depending on the school's structure.

Professional Growth

• Engage in continuous professional development, particularly IB-specific workshops and instructional best practices.
• Provide mentorship to less experienced teachers when appropriate.
• Stay current with developments in science education and IB standards.

School Community Engagement

• Participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities such as science fairs, clubs, competitions, trips, and events.
• Attend and support school functions, open houses, parent conferences, and meetings as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Science Education, or closely related field.
• Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., M.Ed., PGCE/Teaching License) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching high school Physics, preferably with substantial exposure to the IB Diploma Programme.
• Strong understanding of IB philosophy and inquiry-based pedagogy.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
