Responsibilities
Instruction & Classroom Leadership
- Plan, teach, and assess IB Physics courses aligned with IB Diploma Program standards.
- Develop engaging lessons that promote inquiry, experimentation, scientific reasoning, and deep conceptual understanding.
- Incorporate Theory of Knowledge, internal assessments, lab work, and extended investigations into student learning.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and technologies to support diverse learners.
Assessment & Reporting
- Design and administer assessments in line with IB requirements, including formative and summative assessments.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and communicate progress with students and families.
- Prepare students for IB examinations and help them understand the assessment criteria.
Curriculum Development & Collaboration
- Participate in ongoing curriculum review and refinement consistent with school and IB policies.
- Work collaboratively with science faculty and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure coherence and innovation in instruction.
- Attend regular department and school meetings.
Student Support & Development
- Support students' intellectual, social, and personal growth in a diverse, multicultural environment.
- Support students' internal assessment planning, lab safety procedures, and effective use of laboratory resources.
- May serve in pastoral or advisory roles depending on the school's structure.
Professional Growth
- Engage in continuous professional development, particularly IB-specific workshops and instructional best practices.
- Provide mentorship to less experienced teachers when appropriate.
- Stay current with developments in science education and IB standards.
School Community Engagement
- Participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities such as science fairs, clubs, competitions, trips, and events.
- Attend and support school functions, open houses, parent conferences, and meetings as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Science Education, or closely related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., M.Ed., PGCE/Teaching License) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching high school Physics, preferably with substantial exposure to the IB Diploma Programme.
- Strong understanding of IB philosophy and inquiry-based pedagogy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
