Job Description:

Underwriting Specialist is assigned to handle credit underwriting' s following works / functions and must displays in depth credit knowledge, skills, experience with balanced & independence credit judgment to support corporate businesses to achieve its designed business targets with good credit quality for both existing customers and newly procured customers

  • To make balanced credit decision as per the delegated approval authorities (DOA) or to underwrite credit proposals (make credit recommendation) for higher credit approval authorities.
  • To manage responsible credit works for designated clients with acceptable underwriting work quality & efficiency including individual turnaround time and cost effectiveness.
  • To balance risk / return, credit quality and productivity to achieve the department's designated targets for good quality loan portfolio, effective credit & cost control, turnaround times & customer service.
  • To help the team to maintain quality of existing and new customer credit bookings through proactive & regular monitoring (early warning & NPL prevention exercise)
  • To understand laws, regulations, credit governance, policies, group business strategies, management initiatives and credit approval process to ensure compliance with internal / external policies and regulations to provide timely & good decision making.
  • To review/monitor his or her own performance comparing with agreed KPI and discuss such results with Team Head for revision and/or improvement from time to time; and
  • To support senior team members to develop, maintain assigned credit underwriting guidelines and/or supplementary credit policies or other credit related works such as product development, credit approval process, standard covenants etc. to be in line with the bank's business & credit strategy and underwriting standard & practice.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or other related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Underwriting, Debt Restructuring and / or Front office experience in banking or finance institutions.
  • Independent & sound decision maker, energetic and self-driven, being able to work to a high standard under pressure and willing to learn attitude.
  • Strong credit and analytical skills with established experience in various industries, banking products.
  • Good Communication, Negotiation, and Presentation skills
  • Good command of Spoken & Written English
