Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the Research & Development function, driving innovation, new product development, and strategic partnerships to ensure competitive product offerings and sustainable growth. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

NPD

  • Plan, manage, and evaluate the R&D team's performance, as well as oversee external research partners and innovation collaborators.
  • Lead and oversee the entire lifecycle of new product development including product concept creation, application development, product efficacy evaluation, clinical studies, product registration, and intellectual property management.
  • Conduct consumer and market research to explore new product opportunities and validate concepts through testing.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and business differentiation.
  • Build and manage collaborations with research institutions in Singapore and internationally.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to commercial and sales teams during discussions with clients, partners, or regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate pilot-scale trials including lab work, technical transfer from suppliers, formulation development, and specification setting.
  • Manage R&D budgets, timelines, and project resources to ensure efficiency and quality delivery.

Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Oversee and manage quality control across all stages: raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
  • Maintain and improve quality management systems such as GMP, HACCP, ISO22000, Halal, and customer standards.
  • Review laboratory test results, identify non-conformities, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lead internal and external audits, including customer audits and certification audits.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for product quality issues and manage customer complaints effectively.
  • Manage all quality documentation including SOPs, work instructions, CCP/OPRP monitoring, and traceability systems.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in R&D, product development, or innovation roles within the food, nutrition, personal care, or related industries.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record in managing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Experience working in or collaborating with startups, with a proactive and agile mindset.
  • Solid knowledge in regulatory affairs, and scientific validation.
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
