Org. Setting and Reporting
- The Trade, Investment and Innovation Division assists developing countries in the region through providing advisory services, organizing capacity building activities, developing tools and guides and carrying out research and analysis for dissemination to participate more effectively in the global economy. The Sustainable Business Network Section deals with policy issues relating to the promotion of sustainable business practices and the provision of technical support on public-private partnerships to drive businesses in working towards accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Asia-Pacific region. This position is located in the Sustainable Business Network Section, in the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Sustainable Business Network Section and/or officer(s) designated by the Chief.
- Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of Chief of Sustainable Business Network Section, and overall supervision of the Director, Trade and Investment Division, the incumbent is required to perform the following functions: - Assists in the coordination of programme/project planning and preparation work for, typically, a medium-size and complex component of the departmental programme/project initiatives; monitors status of programme/project proposals and receipt of relevant documentation for review and approval. - Compiles, summarizes, and presents basic information/data on specific programmes/project, in particular business engagement, and related topics or issues. - Reviews project documents, especially cost plans/budgets, for completeness and compliance with relevant rules and procedures prior to submission for final approval and signature; identifies inconsistencies; distributes project documents to relevant parties upon approval. - Reviews budget revisions; verifies availability of funds; ensures necessary approval and entry in computerized budget system. - Serves as focal point for administrative coordination of programme/project implementation activities, involving extensive liaison with a diverse organizational unit to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, e.g. recruitment and appointment of personnel, travel arrangements, training/study tours, authorization of payments, disbursement of funds, procurement of equipment and services, etc. - Compiles, summarizes and enters data on project delivery; drafts related status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, budget overruns, etc., and brings to the attention of management. - Drafts correspondence on budget-related issues and prepares and updates periodic reports, briefing notes, graphic and statistical summaries, accounting spreadsheets, etc. Responds or drafts responses to a wide range of correspondence and other communications; uses standard word processing package to produce a wide variety of large, complex documents and reports. - Provides general office assistance; responds to complex information requests and inquiries; reviews, logs and routes incoming correspondence; sets up and maintains files/records; organizes meetings, workshops; handles routine administrative tasks, such as maintaining attendance records, assessing telephone billing, etc. - Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff. - Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. Manages, updates and further develops existing internal databases related to the work of the section; updates website; generates a variety of standard and non-standard statistical and other reports, including draft presentations, from various databases. - Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. - Performs other duties as assigned.

- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience.
- Job - Specific Qualification
- A first-level or higher university degree in business administration, accounting or similar field is desirable.
- Work Experience
- A minimum of five years (or three years if graduated with a first-level university degree) of progressively responsible experience in programme or project administration, technical cooperation or related area is required. Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning system, i.e. SAP/Umoja is required. Experience in programme or project administration within the United Nations Common System or international organizations similar to UN Common System is desirable. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
