**Job Summary**:
The Elementary Academic Assistant (Support Service) works under the direction of the Support Service Coordinator and offers support in the fulfillment of the teacher’s professional responsibilities.

**Responsibilities**:
**General**
- Assist with supervisory duties as required. These normally include the cafeteria, playground, car park and classroom on a scheduled basis
- Attends team and staff meetings as required
- Participates in all school activities, such as assemblies and parent conferences, if requested to do so by the department
- Meet with parents, the Learning Support Teachers and others when necessary to discuss student progress and for Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

**Assistance to students**
- Assists students individually and in groups
- Assists students who require special help, e.g. those with learning difficulties and attention disorders
- Assists the class and Support Services Coordinator to keep track of student progress

**Assistance with the work of the Learning Support Department**
- Offers input into the planning of lessons and when required plans for individuals and groups
- Shares ideas and discusses classroom activities and projects with Learning Support Teachers and the class teacher
- Provides in-class support to identified students
- Plans and prepares suitable teaching materials and resources as required for individuals or small groups
- Assists Learning Support Teachers in carrying out individual and group assessments as required
- Marks, assesses, comments on and records student assignments as required in class situations
- Photocopies resource materials
- Files student work and other material
- Assists substitute teachers when Learning Support Teacher are absent or if necessary, covers in their place as directed by the Elementary Administration
- Carries out other work as directed by the Support Services Coordinator

**Overall expectations**
- The Academic Assistant (Support Services) is an important component of the school’s educational programme and Support Services Team. As such, he or she is expected to be a supportive member of the team, and to be willing to accept responsibilities for a variety of tasks. The items listed above are intended to indicate the general parameters of duties, however it is expected that as other needs arise the Academic Assistant will note and act upon them

**Qualification**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Education related field
- Teaching Qualification is desirable
- Hold a valid Thai Teaching License
- Teaching experience will be an advantage
- Excellent command of English in reading, writing and speaking
- Able to work under pressure and willing to deal with students, parents and concerned staff
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal professionally with sensitive issues
- High level of IT skills
- Ability to coordinate and multi-task
- Service minded
