**Job Description: Safety Manager**

**Position: Safety Manager - Manufacturing**

Job Summary: As a Safety Manager in the manufacturing industry, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to ensure the well-being of all employees and visitors within the manufacturing facility. Your primary objective will be to create and maintain a safe work environment, identify, and mitigate potential hazards, and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards. You will work closely with production teams, engineers, and management to foster a safety-first culture and promote continuous improvement in safety practices and protocols.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs specific to the manufacturing environment, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate safety practices into the design, operation, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees on safety-related matters, ensuring understanding and compliance with safety protocols.
- Organize and conduct safety training programs for manufacturing employees, contractors, and visitors to raise awareness and promote safe work practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, training, inspections, and compliance reports.
- Stay current with industry best practices and emerging safety technologies, incorporating relevant changes into the organization's safety procedures.
- Collaborate with relevant regulatory agencies, insurers, and external safety consultants to maintain compliance and address safety-related matters.
- Lead safety committees or teams, fostering employee engagement in safety initiatives and encouraging the reporting of safety concerns.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans, coordinating drills and ensuring preparedness for potential emergencies.
- Monitor safety equipment and personal protective gear, ensuring their availability, proper usage, and regular maintenance.
- Conduct safety audits and reviews to assess the effectiveness of safety measures and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and present regular safety reports and updates to senior management.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in safety management within a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to manufacturing operations.
- Professional certifications in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST) are preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, equipment, and related hazards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement effective control measures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate safety information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Leadership qualities and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence positive safety behaviors.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using safety-related software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting a safety-first culture within the manufacturing facility
