About the role:

We are seeking a Database Admin Specialist (Microsoft SQL Server Specialist) with strong expertise in performance tuning, HA/DR implementation, and cloud-based optimization.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience managing large-scale SQL Server environments and ensuring system reliability, efficiency, and security.

Contract: 6months (Renewable), Hybrid Work

Job descriptions:

  • Lead team to install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances (on-premises and cloud).
  • Administer SQL Server databases including security, roles, permissions, and auditing.
  • Lead Database Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) including: Query tuning, Execution plan analysis and Index optimization.
  • Monitoring CPU, memory, I/O, and query performance bottlenecks.
  • Implementing partitioning, compression, and other optimization techniques
  • Design and implement Backup, Recovery, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies (Always on Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication, Failover Clustering).
  • Proactively monitor database performance, capacity, and health using native SQL tools and thirdparty solutions.
  • Develop and maintain T-SQL scripts, Stored Procedures, Functions, and Triggers.
  • Manage SQL Agent Jobs, and automation scripts.
  • Collaborate with Developers, BI teams, and Infrastructure engineers to optimize data operations and query efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with database security standards, encryption, and regulatory policies (GDPR, PDPA, PCI-DSS).
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of database architecture, tuning best practices, and operational guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as an MSSQL DBA or Database Specialist.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL Server HA/DR technologies (Always On, Log Shipping, Replication, Mirroring, Clustering).
  • Familiarity with Azure SQL Database and cloud-based performance tuning is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate are preferred.
