Role Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and managing quality operations across production and projects, ensuring consistent product quality, effective defect prevention, and timely issue resolution. This role manages the Quality Engineering team and acts as the primary quality interface between Production, Engineering, and Operations.
The Quality Manager focuses on execution excellence, team leadership, and process discipline, while design authority remains with Engineering and escalation-level decisions remain with management.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Operations Management
• Own day-to-day quality execution across production, including:
o Incoming inspection
o In-process quality checks
o Final inspection and release
• Ensure quality controls are consistently applied across builds and projects.
• Monitor defect trends, rework, and non-conformance issues.
• Drive timely containment and corrective actions for quality issues impacting delivery.
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, manage, and develop 2-3 Quality Engineers.
• Clearly define team roles, responsibilities, and inspection scope.
• Assign workload, set priorities, and ensure coverage during peak production periods.
• Coach Quality Engineers on inspection techniques, defect analysis, and reporting.
Quality Issue Management & Root Cause Analysis
• Lead structured root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring or critical quality issues.
• Coordinate corrective and preventive actions with Production and Engineering teams.
• Track effectiveness of corrective actions and prevent repeat issues.
Production & Engineering Interface
• Work closely with Production Manager to ensure quality requirements are met without disrupting production flow.
• Support Engineering by validating production readiness of approved design changes.
• Provide quality feedback to Engineering on recurring defects or manufacturability issues.
• Ensure proper quality handover during engineering changes and new product introductions.
Quality Documentation & Process Control
• Maintain quality documentation such as inspection records, non-conformance reports, and corrective action logs.
• Establish and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to quality control and inspection.
• Ensure audit readiness for internal reviews, customer inspections, or certification-related activities (as applicable).
Reporting & Escalation
• Prepare regular quality performance reports (defect rates, rework, trends, risks).
• Escalate major quality risks, delivery-impacting issues, or systemic problems to management early.
• Support management in customer-facing quality discussions when required.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field
• Proven experience in quality engineering or quality management
• Experience managing or mentoring quality engineers or technicians
• Strong understanding of:
o Production quality control
o Defect analysis and RCA
o Manufacturing processes (electronics / systems preferred)
• Able to work cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Projects
• Strong english communication and reporting skills
