The primary role of the Senior R&D Chemist is to accelerate the product development program for the paints and coatings and material protection business lines. Responsibilities include product design and formulation through to pilot plant stage and commercialization. Additional duties include production process optimization, trouble shooting, material qualifications, quality control and customer support.

Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrates scientific/technical leadership at project level by taking scientific decisions for complex scientific problems- Plans experimental lab work (scheduling, design, safety measures, coordination with associated services)- Responsible for the design and implementation of development plans to achieve defined milestones and deliver results- Collects, summarizes, analyses interdependent and complex data and takes conclusions based on data, and makes presentations, as appropriate, to disseminate best practice throughout the function- Provides technical leadership in scientific area of expertise and leading professionals and technicians to accelerate development programs. Optimizes development workflows to deliver reproducible results and robust conclusions.- As a project lead, works with interdisciplinary teams to advance technologies into commercialization phase. Works with external and internal R&D functions to assist with achieving project goals, as required- Responsible for Arxada’s Safety and Regulatory Compliance Program- Business Travel: approximately 0-5%, or as needed to conferences, training sessions, or with external R&D partners

Qualifications & Experience:
- Ph.D. Degree in Organic Chemistry required- Min. 2+ years experience in a similar role- Maintenance of ISO 9001:2015-
- Technical expertise product development processes, validation, endpoint measurements, and statistical analysis- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in English and local language- Demonstrated ability to transit from Lab stage to commercial stage- Experience working with production facilities/departments to ensure a straightforward scale-up once the reformulations/new products are ready for large-scale production- Ethical, detail oriented and excellent time management skills- Effective with multitasking, capable of prioritization, and adept ability to improvise work plans while maintaining efficiency- Strong problem-solving skills and efficient planning and execution skills
