excellence. We believe that through the programmes of the International Baccalaureate, our curriculum

scope and sequence, and the commitment to high standard instructional practices school, we provide

the tools for each student to attain this goal.

**The teacher is Responsible for designing plans that meet the needs of each student by**:
Being familiar with the KIS International School Vision, Mission Statement and core values and

strategic plan.
- Being familiar with, and participating in the cycle of revision of the KIS Guidelines for Best

Practice.
- Being familiar with the KIS Child protection Protocol the KIS Code of Conduct.
- Work with and incorporate the Quality Learning Statement and behaviours.
- Having a working knowledge of all aspects of the Primary Years Programme.
- Participating in weekly collaborative planning meetings with team members, by offering

suggestions, and input into the planning and development of the programme.
- Collaboratively planning, assessing and reporting with the Student Support staff (EAL/LS) to

ensure the learning needs of all students are met.
- Write, update and follow through with both EAL and Student Support IEPs to support and record

student learning.
- Participating in collaborative planning strategies, information exchanges, and resource sharing

with all staff across the school including specialists and support staff.
- Planning and developing PYP units of inquiry to be delivered in depth, ensuring that they are

significant, relevant, challenging and engaging.
- Ensuring that the KIS learning intentions/outcomes are included in the planning process and are

accessible to students in the classroom.
- Ensuring the weekly plan and PYP plan are completed on time and are shared.
- Participating in planning which builds on students experiences and prior knowledge.
- Enhancing the classroom curriculum by using a variety of resources, i.e. field trips, assemblies,

parent and community visitors, presentations to provide multiple perspectives.
- Planning that accommodates a range of ability levels through differentiation.
- Planning that accommodates the needs of second language students in the mainstream

classroom.
- Addressing assessment throughout the planning process both within the teaching team and

extended team including EAL, LS, specialists and with the students.
- Ensuring open communications with specialist teachers to promote and enhance the

transdisciplinary nature of the programme.
- Maintaining open communication and supporting a collaborative environment within the teaching

teams to ensure continuity and integration between classes and grade levels.
- Utilize the planning room and the library resource materials to support quality cross grade

planning.
- Be prepared to initiate lead and support Remote learning in case off school closure.
