Researches, extracts and compiles basic information and technical data on environment and development and related issues.
Sorts, consolidates, extracts and processes data and enter into relevant database.
Assists in the evaluation and examination of data sets for accuracy, clarity and validity.
Assists in the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
Prepares a variety of reports/documents/publications, and produces visual presentations, tables, lists, graphs, charts and/or diagrams for information and review by senior officers.
Prepares inputs for inclusion in documents, articles, books and publications.
Reviews, stores, classifies, and maintains relevant computerized databases.
Performs other related work as required.

EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.
A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience.
Job - Specific QualificationA university degree in social science, environmental studies or economics is desirable.
Work ExperienceA minimum of five years (or three years if graduated with a first-level university degree) of progressively responsible experience in conducting research and data analysis related to sustainable development or related area is required.
Experience in developing graphs in Microsoft Excel is desirable.
Experience in the United Nations Common System or international organizations similar to UN Common System is desirable.
LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
AssessmentQualified applicants may be evaluated through a competency-based interview and/or other assessment methods.
Must have passed the United Nations Global General Service Test (GGST) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices Away from Headquarters.
