The primary role of the R&D Chemist is to support acceleration of the product development program for the paints and coatings and material protection business lines. Responsibilities include assisting product design and formulation through to pilot plant stage and commercialization. Additional duties include production process optimization, trouble shooting, material qualifications, quality control and customer support.

Essential Job Functions:
- Execute lab experiment (Planning, selecting, safety measures and set-up of most suitable equipment) and accelerate development programs- Responsible for implementation of development plans and set up working schedule to achieve defined milestones and deliver results- Collects, summarizes, analyses data and takes conclusions based on data, and makes presentations, as appropriate, to disseminate best practice throughout the function- Responsible for supporting technical information and well coordination with production team for scale up in pilot and production scale- Responsible for Arxada’s Safety and Regulatory Compliance Program- Business Travel: approximately 0-5%, or as needed to scale up, conferences, training sessions, or with external R&D partners

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Chemistry required- Masters Degree in Organic Chemistry preferred- Min. 3+ years experience in a similar role- Demonstrates scientific/technical knowledge and skill at project level- Maintenance of ISO 9001:2015-
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and local language- Demonstrated ability to transit from Lab stage to commercial stage- Experience working with production facilities/departments to ensure a straightforward scale-up once the reformulations/new products are ready for large-scale production- Ethical, detail oriented and excellent time management skills- Effective with multitasking, capable of prioritization, and adept ability to improvise work plans while maintaining efficiency- Strong problem solving skills and efficient planning and execution skills
