BACKGROUND

In the world where consumers are digital native yet desire perfect product experiences, in the markets where consumers’ journey in omni-channels are dynamic and cannot be defined, understanding consumers and markets have become more challenging than ever. Unilever needs an insight lead who can pioneer new/agile methodology in innovation tests, marry offline and online data sources creatively, innovate approach for efficiency improvement, and capable of translating insights into business recommendation that drive growth. We need experienced insight professional with passion in analytics and digital, who are not afraid to break the traditional way to research and insights to join us.

MAIN JOB PURPOSE

SEA B&W CMI & PDC is a lead role responsible for cross-markets innovation projects, cross-markets initiatives such as collaborative projects with other functions within Unilever as well as retailers and media platforms, total business unit brand and market performance analytics, and all social business analytics or PDC projects in the region.

This role is working directly with senior stakeholders across markets and functions, as well as engaging with external agencies and third-party analysts. The role reports directly into SEA B&W CMI director with currently no direct subordinate.

Remark: SEA includes Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore - but excludes Indonesia.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The role accountability is divided into 3 big areas: Innovations/D4C, PDC and Performance.
- Lead Cross-Markets Innovation Research and Pioneer New Approaches - 40% of time
- Lead research projects for all innovations launched in more than 1 market. Work scope starts from designing learning plan, briefing/choosing the right studies and agencies throughout the steps, input preparation and output refinement.
- In spirit of better speed and agility, the role’s owner will design new study approaches, either through a combination of studies or in-house research.
- Lead and conduct end-to-end research projects of new methodology to create repeatable model across markets where possible.
- Consolidate and conduct own analysis for cross-markets insights and recommendation.
- Studies include both quantitative and qualitative, either standalone or a mix of methodologies/approaches.
- Collaborate with other functions and external parties to create new way of working, i.e., create and manage consumer panels, leverage CRM for research purpose.
- Advice cross-functions on recommended research methodology to answer different business questions/agendas.
- Manage overall learning plan: Liaison with agencies, QC and control project network.
- In this part of the role, you’ll be engaging with diverse internal stakeholders from different brand/markets/functions (marketing, CTI, R&D, media, DMC, customer development, CSP), and working with several external parties, such as research agencies, retailers and media agencies, both local and global, quantitative and qualitative, and across markets.
- Lead SEA Social Business Analytics Capability (PDC) - 40% of time
- Lead People Data Centre (PDC) capability for SEA B&W team, governing brief questions, quotas, and quality of deliverable to ensure business impact.
- Identify business questions that can be answered via PDC, refine and structure the briefs to deliver business objectives, work through potential hypothesis and output storyboard to aid analysts’ understanding and align expectation.
- Oversee and feedback on deliverables, as well as cross analyse and synthesize insights from different markets outputs.
- Analyse insights and trends cross markets to find resounding truth at regional level.
- Communicate the key findings and insights to stakeholders both conversationally and in formal presentation style.
- Be the SEA B&W Trends Champion: Leverage PDC capability, the role requires you to be on top of the happenings in beauty industry beyond Unilever operating category.
- Proactively share both big and small trends that can lead to both short-term executions and future innovations through both forums and regular-cadence update.
- This part of the role requires understanding of social listening, search analytic and data integration logic. It does not require coding or data science skills, but the ability to communicate with team with such expertise. In this role, you’ll be working with analysts, data experts, global delivery partners, regional delivery hub, as well as directly serving business team in local and regional team.
- Lead Cross-Markets Performance Insight - 20% of time
- Extract and analyse beauty & wellbeing KPIs on a monthly and quarterly basis and communicate with business team on movements and implications. Example of analysis includes Market share, brand health, brand awareness.
