Position Overview

We are seeking an inspirational Performing Arts Teacher (Music & Drama) to join our founding team. The role emphasises Music, supported by Drama expertise. It will play a key part in building a dynamic, child-centred Performing Arts programme that fosters creativity, expression, confidence, and cultural appreciation.

The successful candidate will help integrate Thai music, instruments, and cultural storytelling alongside global music and theatre practices, ensuring students experience both local and international performing arts traditions. Piano proficiency is highly desirable to support class lessons, rehearsals, and school performances.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the artistic identity and performance culture of a new international school from its first day.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning

• Plan, teach, and assess Music and Drama across Early Years and Primary (N1–Grade 5).
• Integrate Performing Arts with classroom inquiries and thematic learning, collaborating with homeroom teachers and curriculum leads.
• Apply a Reggio Emilia-inspired, inquiry-led approach in the Early Years, offering meaningful opportunities for creativity, movement, musical exploration, and storytelling.
• Create inclusive learning environments encouraging expression through music, drama, dance, and movement.
• Differentiate lessons to meet diverse learning needs, including those of EAL students and students with varying abilities.
• Incorporate Thai cultural elements in music, drama, and performance, including traditional instruments, folk stories, and festivals.
• Support smooth transitions between Early Years and Primary Performing Arts programmes.

Performances and School Culture

• Lead music and drama for assemblies, celebrations, cultural events, and community performances.
• Direct student concerts, showcases, and annual Performing Arts community events.
• Accompany class singing, ensembles, and rehearsals (piano proficiency highly desirable).
• Support the integration of Thai and international performing arts to create a culturally rich school identity.
• Contribute to establishing the school's creative traditions and artistic culture.

Collaboration, Communication and Professionalism

• Collaborate with colleagues to build a cohesive, creative, and supportive school environment.
• Maintain clear communication with parents about student progress and engagement in Performing Arts.
• Document student learning through portfolios, newsletters, displays, and digital platforms.
• Manage and develop Performing Arts resources and equipment.
• Contribute to co-curricular life, including running ECAs and supporting school-wide arts initiatives.
• Offer flexibility to support other learning areas where needed (e.g., English acquisition, cultural projects).

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Music, Drama, Performing Arts, or Education with a Performing Arts specialisation (Master's desirable).
• 2–5 years of successful teaching experience, preferably in Early Years and Primary.
• Experience in planning and delivering Performing Arts programmes for young learners.
• Strong musical ability; piano proficiency highly desirable.
• Experience directing or supporting school performances, productions, or community arts events.
• Familiarity with IPC, British National Curriculum, or inquiry-based pedagogies.
• Experience working in international schools, particularly in Asia, is highly valued.
