Job Purpose

The Assistant MD Manager, Supermarket is responsible for supporting the Merchandising Director in managing overall category performance, including sales analysis, product assortment, supplier coordination, and promotional planning. The role involves preparing sales performance reports, developing monthly merchandising plans, sourcing suppliers for promotional activities, and coordinating closely with Operations and Marketing teams to ensure effective product displays and sales growth. This position requires strong analytical, negotiation, and planning skills to drive category performance and achieve business targets.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Reporting

2. Monthly Review Report: Prepare monthly sales performance reports comparing results with the previous month and create presentations to present findings.

3. Weekly Report: Prepare weekly sales reports comparing the past week with the previous week, analyze trends, and develop action plans to improve sales. Track new product development (NPD) by category weekly.

4. Merchandising & Planning

5. Monthly Plan: Develop monthly plans aligned with team direction and management objectives, including sales targets and operational goals. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure effective execution.

6. Summary Promotions for Marketing: After monthly plan confirmation, negotiate deals with suppliers and summarize items for each campaign to Marketing in a shared drive.

7. Gondola Management

8. Source suppliers for gondola rental spaces and utilize vacant gondolas by assigning products for promotional campaigns.

9. Update gondola item lists to OPS monthly for ordering purposes.

10. Assortment Review

11. Monitor sales performance to optimize product placement and maximize sales.

12. Identify slow-moving or low-performing items and recommend discontinuation or clearance.

13. RTV (Return to Vendor)

14. Coordinate with OPS to send Purchase Return Order files to suppliers for product returns and Credit Note issuance.

15. Support OPS in liaising with suppliers throughout the return process.

16. Coordination with Marketing

17. Source suppliers and products for special deal campaigns and share relevant information with Marketing to ensure smooth execution.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.

• Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in merchandising, category management, or retail operations.

• Experience in supermarket or FMCG business is preferred.

• Skills & Competencies:

• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

• Good knowledge of product assortment, supplier coordination, and sales performance analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong communication, planning, and coordination abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Language: Good command of both written and spoken English.
