Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of a Junior Legal professional involve supporting ongoing legal matters and ensuring compliance.

  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents to support senior colleagues in developing case strategies and providing advice. Utilize legal research tools like Westlaw or LexisNexis.

  • Legal Drafting: Prepare and review a wide range of legal documents, including:

  • Pleadings, motions, and briefs for litigation.

  • Contracts, agreements, and corporate documents (especially in an in-house setting).
  • Legal memorandums and correspondence.

  • Case/Project Management: Assist with the administrative and logistical aspects of cases or legal projects, including:

  • Organizing and maintaining accurate case files and legal documentation.

  • Gathering evidence and preparing exhibits.
  • Managing document production and discovery.
  • Client and Stakeholder Support: Attend client meetings, court hearings, or depositions as needed. Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates under the supervision of a senior lawyer.
  • Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Help monitor changes in legislation and industry regulations and assist in developing internal policies to ensure the organization remains compliant.
