Job Purpose

The Senior Interest Rate and Derivatives Trader is responsible for formulating and executing trading and investment strategies in fixed income securities and financial derivatives across primary and secondary markets. The role ensures alignment with the bank's strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks. The incumbent will also contribute to product development, portfolio management, and the continuous enhancement of trading systems and processes to maximize profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities


•  Develop and implement trading strategies and business plans in alignment with the bank's goals and performance metrics.


• Execute trading transactions in fixed income and derivative instruments, both domestically and internationally, to manage risk and generate profit.


•  Analyze market trends, interest rate movements, and macroeconomic indicators to support trading decisions and provide strategic insights.


• Evaluate and structure new financial instruments and derivative products, assessing risk-return profiles and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.


• Monitor domestic and global market conditions regularly to ensure timely and informed decision-making.


• Review and refine operational plans periodically to adapt to evolving market dynamics and maintain competitive advantage.


• Enhance the efficiency of trading systems, data infrastructure, and operational workflows to support business growth and innovation.


• Approve transactions and decisions within delegated authority levels.


• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders—including risk management, product development, and partner banks—to optimize product offerings and client service.


•  Manage trading activities within approved budgets and ensure cost-effective operations.


• Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the trading function, providing guidance and support to team members as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements


• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.


• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in fixed income and derivatives trading, with proven leadership capabilities.


• Strong understanding of interest rate products, derivatives pricing, and risk management principles.


• In-depth knowledge of local and international financial markets and regulatory frameworks.


• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.


• Proficiency in trading platforms, financial modeling tools, and market data systems.


• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and build external partnerships.


• CFA, FRM, or other relevant professional certifications are a plus.
