Job Purpose:

The R&D Manager is responsible for driving culinary innovation and leading the research and development of new food products across multiple restaurant brands under Foodxcite. This role involves overseeing the end-to-end process from ideation to implementation, ensuring products meet brand standards, operational feasibility, nutritional accuracy, cost targets, and customer expectations. The R&D Manager plays a critical role in supporting sustainable sales growth, brand differentiation, and overall product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Innovation & Product Development

  1. Develop strategic, creative, and brand-aligned food products for multiple restaurant concepts under the Foodxcite portfolio.
  2. Lead product development ideation and brand tasting sessions to guide culinary direction and innovation.
  3. Provide technical expertise in the formulation, planning, execution, and evaluation of new or improved food products.
  4. Ensure food safety, regulatory compliance, and alignment with internal culinary standards.

Food Costing & Technical Documentation

  1. Conduct accurate ingredient costing for all developed products to maintain target COGS and pricing strategy.
  2. Create and refine detailed product specifications, including recipes, ingredient requirements, preparation methods, and shelf-life parameters.

Cross-Functional Rollout Coordination

  1. Collaborate with Marketing, Creative, Training, Operations, and Supply Chain teams on all aspects of product launches.
  2. Assist in the preparation of marketing assets, staff training materials, and SOPs for operational rollout.
  3. Provide store-level support during product testing and post-launch evaluations.

Technical Problem Solving

  1. Resolve technical issues during the development process, whether related to production, performance, or operations.
  2. Work closely with Operations, Purchasing, and Brand Marketing to communicate and align technical product information during test programs and launches.

Nutritional & Regulatory Compliance

  1. Conduct nutritional analysis and calculations using ESHA Genesis nutrition software to support menu transparency and compliance.

Reporting & Strategic Analysis

  1. Monitor product performance post-launch, analyze results, and recommend improvements based on sales, customer feedback, and operational feedback.
  2. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior leadership on project updates, costing, performance, and innovation pipeline.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in food product development or R&D, with at least 3 years in managerial role.

· Experience in QSR, fast-casual, or restaurant chain environments is preferred.

· Background as a chef or culinary developer is a plus.

  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong culinary creativity combined with technical food science knowledge.

  • Excellent project management, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in using other nutritional software.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Passion for innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.
