Main Purpose of the Role

This role is responsible for defining and executing procurement and category strategies to optimize cost, quality, and supply reliability. It includes managing category roadmaps and portfolios, driving strategic sourcing, supplier management, and ensuring compliance with responsible sourcing standards while fostering collaboration across teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic direction

  • Define procurement strategy including category management, sourcing, contracting, and supplier management.

  • Track performance against KPIs and recommend improvements.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities.

  • Category roadmap

  • Develop and maintain category roadmap aligned with business goals.

  • Prioritize initiatives based on customer needs and market insights.
  • Monitor performance and support corrective actions.

  • Category portfolio management

  • Manage portfolio mix and recommend additions or phase-outs.

  • Ensure alignment with strategy and market trends.
  • Provide operational insights for adjustments.

  • Category sales & marketing

  • Support execution of category strategy with commercial teams.

  • Monitor financial and customer metrics; recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with pricing and promotional strategies.

  • Standards and programs

  • Implement procurement SOPs, policies, and systems.

  • Recommend adaptations for operational feasibility.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards.

  • End-to-end category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier management

  • Consolidate demand to drive economies of scale.

  • Develop sourcing plans and evaluate suppliers.
  • Maintain supplier master data and performance reviews.

  • Contract management and governance

  • Negotiate and manage contracts based on master templates.

  • Translate requirements into KPIs/SLAs.
  • Monitor milestones and ensure compliance.

  • Responsible sourcing

  • Implement responsible sourcing policies and standards.

  • Track and report performance against sustainability KPIs.
  • Take corrective actions as required.

  • Quality assurance & risk management

  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments.

  • Implement quality control measures.
  • Mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions or quality issues.

Qualifications

  • More than 5-7 years of experience working with category management at manager level, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization.
  • Understands basic manufacturing cost models and processes.
  • Ability to analyze and present data to multiple levels of the organization.
  • Well-developed project management skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel 10–20% of the time within the region.
