Job Purpose
A Cook is responsible for preparing food and ingredients, operating kitchen equipment, and maintaining a clean, sanitary work environment according to recipes and safety standards.
Key duties include washing, preparing, and cutting ingredients; cooking various food items; and presenting meals attractively. Cooks must also manage food storage, inventory, and equipment maintenance, often working in a fast-paced kitchen environment alongside other staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Washing, weighing, measuring, chopping, and mixing ingredients according to established recipes.
- Cooking: Utilizing various cooking methods like baking, grilling, frying, boiling, and steaming to prepare food items.
- Presentation: Arranging and garnishing food on serving dishes to ensure it is appealing and meets quality standards.
- Kitchen Organization & Sanitation: Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, cleaning equipment and utensils, and adhering to strict food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Inventory & Ordering: Checking ingredient freshness, managing stock levels, and sometimes placing orders for new supplies.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in similar position
- English communication skill required
- Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding and applying proper food handling and storage procedures to prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Cooking Techniques: Proficient in various cooking methods and familiar with operating different kitchen equipment.
- Teamwork & Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff and communicate clearly in a busy environment.
- Multitasking: Capable of managing multiple tasks and orders simultaneously, especially in a fast-paced setting.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in food preparation, presentation, and maintaining cleanliness standards.
