Our client is looking for a hands-on HR Manager to lead all people-related activities for their Thailand operations. This is a standalone HR role within a manufacturing environment, ideal for an experienced HR generalist who thrives on autonomy, responsibility, and impact.
About the Role
As the HR Manager/Director – Thailand, you will be the sole HR professional on site, partnering closely with the GM APAC and local leadership team while reporting functionally to Global HR in Europe. You will translate global HR standards into effective local execution, ensuring strong compliance, engaged employees, and a high-performing organization.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Business Partnership
- Partner with GM APAC and leadership team to understand business priorities and workforce needs
- Co-develop and execute Thailand HR strategy aligned with global HR direction
- Translate strategy into practical HR processes, policies, and actions
- Support HR budgeting and cost justification
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Management
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for all Thailand roles in a manufacturing/plant setting
- Manage external recruitment agencies, temporary staffing partners, and schools
- Ensure timely, cost-effective hiring aligned with approved headcount and budget
- Design and deliver effective onboarding and orientation programs
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Independently manage all HR processes including:
- Performance management
- Talent development and succession planning
- Employee engagement and surveys
- Compensation, benefits, merit and bonus processes
- Employee relations, grievances, absenteeism, and disciplinary matters
- Coach and advise managers on people leadership and performance issues
HR Administration & Compliance
- Own all HR and payroll administration
- Ensure full compliance with Thai labor law and internal policies
- Maintain employee handbook, HR policies, personnel files, and HR reporting
- Act as HR lead for audits and compliance requirements
- Use and maintain HRIS data accuracy (Workday preferred)
Health, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Lead local and participate in global health, safety, and wellness initiatives
- Actively participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities
- Support internal communication and change initiatives
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field.
- 7+ years of broad HR generalist experience (minimum 5 years for high-potential candidates)
- Strong experience in a manufacturing or plant-based environment in Thailand (mandatory)
- Proven experience working in an international company, preferably US- or EU-based
- Overseas working or assignment experience is a strong advantage (e.g., regional role, expatriate assignment, or extended collaboration with global teams)
- Solid knowledge of Thai labor law and HR compliance
- Comfortable working independently with no HR team
- Strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and business-oriented
- Fluent in English and Thai
- HRIS experience (Workday preferred)
