Android QA Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Android QA Engineer(Project-based) to take ownership of the testing and validation for our custom Android OS (ROM) and integrated live streaming platform. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring rock-solid system stability, optimizing performance, and guaranteeing seamless integration between our modified camera/audio pipelines and our core application.

This is a unique opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project, testing everything from the bootloader to the user interface on specialized hardware.

Key Responsibilities

• System & ROM Validation: Execute comprehensive testing on our custom Android ROM, including boot stability, performance benchmarks, and thermal monitoring. Validate all core hardware functionalities like Camera, Audio, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet.
• Core Application & UX Testing: Ensure our live streaming platform functions flawlessly and delivers a seamless, intuitive user experience (UX). Conduct rigorous end-to-end testing of all application features, workflows, and UI components. Dive deep to validate the integration of custom Camera and Audio SDKs, and assess real-time video/audio quality under various network conditions.
• OTA Update Validation: Design and execute robust test plans for Over-the-Air (OTA) updates for both the OS and applications. Your testing will cover installation, rollback procedures, security, and post-update system stability.
• Multi-Tasking & App Compatibility: Test the stability and performance of popular third-party apps (e.g., Lazada, Shopee, TikTok, Facebook) within our custom split-screen environment, focusing on resource management and hardware access (camera/mic).
• System Integrity Testing: Perform thorough validation of our custom System Settings application and ensure seamless installation and functionality of applications from the Google Play Store and other sources.
• Process & Documentation: Develop, document, and maintain detailed test cases, test plans, and execution procedures. You will manage the bug tracking lifecycle, from identification and reporting to verification and closure, providing clear and actionable reports to the development team.

Required Qualifications & Skills (Must-Haves)

• Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance, with at least 3 years focused specifically on the Android platform.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with Android testing tools, especially Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and analyzing logs (logcat).
• System-Level Mindset: Proven ability to test beyond the application layer, with experience validating hardware integration (camera, audio, connectivity) and system performance.
• Critical Thinking: A true "breaker" mentality with a passion for finding elusive bugs, edge cases, and potential failure points.
• Detail-Oriented: Meticulous approach to test case creation, execution, and bug reporting.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

• Direct experience testing Custom Android ROMs (AOSP) or other embedded Linux/Android systems.
• Experience with performance and stress testing methodologies and tools.
• Familiarity with live streaming protocols (e.g., RTMP, SRT, WebRTC) and video/audio codecs.
• Experience in writing and maintaining automated tests for Android using frameworks like Appium, Espresso, or UI Automator.
