Job Introduction
BBC World Service is an international news provider, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services on digital, TV and radio. It reaches a weekly audience of around 364 million around the world, helping them make sense of the world we live in.

Main Responsibilities
- To produce, film, script and edit engaging video content for multiple outlets and digital platforms in Vietnamese and English.
- To ensure content is accurate and informative whilst striving for creative and imaginative output.
- To reversion video content for different digital platforms.
- To record video interviews and other types of original content as required.
- Use analytics to inform video story choices and ensure the content is delivered in the right format(s).
- To originate and organise ideas for video projects, from filming to processing of material for BBC News Vietnamese.
- May be required to present the content for different platforms in English or in Vietnamese. This might be live or recorded.
- May include the production and presentation of content for multiple platforms. This might be live or recorded.
- Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
- To undertake pre
- and post-production and studio work, live and pre-recorded. Use a range of video, audio and digital equipment and information technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver content in the appropriate medium, to the highest professional standards.
- Ability to gather and prepare audio and video material for BBC News Vietnamese, recognising the distinct requirements of different types of output, self-shooting and editing routinely as the main focus of the role.
- Significant recent experience of journalism about Vietnam, Asia and global news and current affairs with a good knowledge of production techniques.
- A full command and up to date knowledge of written and spoken Vietnamese as first (or equivalent) language as well as complete comprehension of written and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrates sound editorial and policy decisions based upon a clear understanding of the BBC’s distinctive news agenda, the requirements of news and current affairs coverage and the audience.
- Strong record of originating and developing stories for news programmes on multiple platforms.
- Experience of digital newsgathering, filming and filing video from the field. A knowledge of outside broadcast techniques would be an advantage.
- A clear understanding of the different digital video formats and styles of storytelling for the webpage and social media platforms.
- A good presence on camera and experience of social media lives would be an advantage.
