Marine Underwriter

PRTR is working with an Insurance company looking for a Marine Underwriter to join their growing company.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Utilizing guidelines to underwrite Marine accounts and direct products.
- Ensuring all files are document per company.
- Managing the portfolio mix to meet profit and growth to meet long and short team profit objectives. Ensure approvals from appropriate regional and regulatory authorities are obtained timely.
- Working with sales staff to identify and produce new product and/or packages to meet current or potential market needs and to generate Marine underwriting profit.
- Working directly with Customer Service Units to ensure timely and accurate issuance of policy documentation.
- Preparing the submissions for Marine underwriting review beyond delegated underwriting authority.
- Participating in the country budgeting, forecasting processes.
- Providing support to sales staff by personally sourcing highly technical underwriting information, negotiating with or educating clients/producers and targeted segments of the business community.
- Providing advice, counsel and direction to less experienced staff, as required.

**Experience**
- 3-5 years working experience in insurance business or Marine related field.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
- Ability to work independently and utilize appropriate automated tools with mínimal administrative support.
- Underwriting/marketing proficiency in commercial product lines gained through five or more years of applicable.
- Experience in at least two of the following areas; underwriting/marketing sales/marketing, product management, and claims and /or risk assessment.
- Communications and interpersonal skills to be able to deal with producers, customers and all levels of the organization.
- English is a must.
