Business Development Officer

This experience is fueled by 100+ years of supply chain knowledge, which helps them simplify the shipping experience and make insurance more accessible with fast claims payments, extensive coverage options, and seamless self-service tools. Shipping is about more than moving merchandise.

The client seeks a highly motivated and organized Business Development Officer to join and build the team in Thailand.

**Responsibilities**:

- Handling the Marine Cargo Insurance Expertise.
- Being responsible to increase the sales of insurance products.
- Developing insurance products as stand-alone or as value-added to core products in close collaboration.
- Developing sales strategies in close collaboration with business units & sales organizations.
- Assisting in verifying policy limits, deductibles, locations, exclusions, and endorsements.
- Investigating each claim and evaluating coverage, liability, and damages.
- Examining and monitoring claim status for potential exposure opportunities.
- Reviewing coverage matters, analyses, and determinations.
- Being responsible for maintaining claim files with a level of complexity that warrants enhanced skill or expertise.
- Ensuring that claims are analyzed for coverage, and documentation and are adjusted and appropriately paid within company guidelines.
- Evaluating coverage and liability.
- Analyzing claim loss and expense exposure and ensuring that all assigned claims are properly and timely reserved.
- Developing and pursuing actions that are designed to protect the insured and achieve optimal claim outcomes.
- Ensuring timely communication and feedback to underwriters as appropriate.
- Designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organization, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur.
- Assessing and evaluating risks that affect the company and ensuring risks are properly addressed and mitigated
- Reporting claims to the carriers, gathering information from internal customers, providing documentation for the claim, presenting estimates, responding to legal proceedings, etc.
- Understanding the level of risk the company is willing to accept and ensuring insurance programs are consistent with the risk tolerance.
- Creating and communicating business continuity plans to limit risks.
- Maintaining records of insurance policies and claims.
- Reviewing new, major contracts or internal business proposals.
- Partnering with the legal department in handling general liability and product claims.
- Managing incoming and outgoing certificates of insurance under contractual obligations.
- Reviewing invoices for policies and claims services. Monitoring purchase order creation and payment.
- Providing technical advice on insurance-related matters, loss prevention, and other risk management issues.
- Reviewing contracts and agreements to ensure insurance adequacy and indemnity provisions are acceptable.
- Managing one direct report: Claims Analyst.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 10 years of work experience, with 7 years of experience in risk management or insurance, ideally within the marine cargo insurance industry.
- An undergraduate degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or Economics is preferred.
- Experience in handling a variety of Marine and/or Inland Marine claims - Cargo and marine liability claims.
- Superior skills in developing claim strategies to effectuate dispositions.
- Superior communication skills to work effectively with departments and with outside customers.
- Ability to use analytical methods in the claim examining processes to find workable solutions.
- Ability to generate innovative solutions within the claims department.
- Well-organized, attention to detail, and effective time management skills.
- Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in Thai and English.
