Identifies, monitors and analyses the global, regional and national development of logistics and the transport sector, such as road transport including Asian Highway Network, and prepares documentation for technical cooperation programme and projects.
Develops and updates guidelines and studies on transport and logistics sector.
Develops and implement capacity building schemes for government officials and transport logistics.
Prepares inputs to technical papers, analytical studies and reports to inter-governmental bodies.
Attends international, regional, and national conferences to collect information, make presentations and hold discussions with country experts and representatives from other organizations, and draft reports.
Assists in the organization and servicing of expert group meetings, seminars, workshops and training courses in transport and logistics related issues.
Implements, monitors, backstops and assesses the implementation of technical cooperation programmes and projects.
Prepares speeches and other inputs for presentations by senior staff.
Performs other related duties as required, including a variety of administrative tasks necessary for the final delivery of the Section's services.

EducationAdvanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in transport economics, management, engineering, or related field.
A relevant first-level university degree in the above fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience working at the international level, dealing with transport and logistics is desirable.
Experience in policy design, implementation and capacity in transport and logistics is desirable.
Experience in the United Nations Common System or international organizations is desirable.
Working experience in the Asia-Pacific is desirable.
LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
