**Purpose**

The role of the PE Teaching Assistant is to support individual students, the teacher and/or the class in the teaching of Physical Education, under the supervision of a PE teacher.
**Expectations**

The PE Teaching Assistant should be able to draw on a professional knowledge base including:

- A knowledge of health and fitness related activities.
- A knowledge of different sports.
- An understanding of the teaching and coaching.
- A general understanding of the PE curriculum.
- The ability to carry out any duties assigned to them, with a minimum of supervision.

**Line management responsibilities**
- The PE Teaching Assistant reports to the Head of Primary PE and Sport.

**Main tasks**

The PE Teaching Assistant may support the teaching of Physical Education by:

- Helping lead activities.
- Being assigned to work with individual or small groups of students.
