The Solutions Design General Manager is responsible for designing common contract logistics processes, as well as supporting implementation and continuous performance improvement. This manager will also provide solution design support for new and/or expanding business implementations. The Solutions Design General Manager supports multifaceted operations based on a detailed understanding of client needs. The Solutions Design General Managers may contribute to the overall facility layout and design as also determine appropriate equipment to support the concept of operations. This Manager also routinely support the physical implementation of the solution.

This role is also responsible for maintaining financial and engineering metrics that will meet or exceed performance goals. The Solutions Design General Manager may have responsibilities of managing Logistics Engineers and/or Interns/Co-ops.

**Essential Duties And Responsibilities**
- Research/Analysis:

- Establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization
- Analyzes contractual commitments, customer specifications, design changes and other data to drive continuous improvement and meet or exceed expectations of customer
- Performs special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functions
- Performs cost/benefit trade-off analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system or technology change
- Forecasts facility, vehicle, staffing and/or material handling equipment needs in order to improve cost, utilization, service, and efficiencies
- Conducts studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow by analysing production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules
- Recommends methods for maximizing the utilization of production facilities and personnel by restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchasing equipment in adherence with governmental, health, safety, and other regulations.
- Provides labour planning tool tailored to the client’s business and agreed upon operating processes
- Identifies and procures all necessary capital expense items to support successful launch of operation
- Full understanding of the approved Solutions Model tied to the client’s award of business to DSV
- Participation in “Advance Quality Planning” sessions with new clients validating requirements and processes
- Determines and gains agreement of final design of facility, operating process, equipment type and quantity
- Partners with key functional groups that are part of implementation (HR, IT, Operations, etc.) to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Develops and provides action items to Project Management that will lead to successful implementation
- Documentation/Reporting:

- Document and communicate common processes for all distribution functions within scope of responsibility
- Review data and summarize expectations to address gaps in operation
- Identify areas for improvement based on analysis of data and observations
- Communication:

- Communicate opportunities for improvement in the distribution network
- Help determine key metrics and provide recommendations to guide management
- Assist with developing/presenting training materials and classes for distribution processes
- Relationships:

- Bring cross-functional teams together to collaborate on projects
- Support the labour management program, including methods and procedures, engineered labour standards, incentive programs and program policies
- Ensure alignment among all operations’ policies, procedures and ongoing improvement projects
- LEAN Operations:

- Facilitate LEAN methodology and recommend solutions to specific business case issues
- May support continual improvement programs, Kaizen events, and workshops
- Set the standard for innovation within strategic and operational problem solving
- Project Management:

- Assist with developing and rolling outgrowth strategies and projects
- Determine feasibility of projects factoring costs, available space, schedule limitations, company goals, technical requirements and economic factors
- Develop and implement project activities plans and timelines, coordinate subcontractors, facility management and field service personnel, and resolve problems in area of logistics to ensure meeting of contractual commitments

**Other Duties**
- Performs other duties as required

**Supervisory Responsibilities**
- If applicable for specific role, may manage Junior engineers, providing coaching and mentoring as they support process improvement projects

- Minimum of 8 years of industrial engineering experience in a supply chain (warehouse/4walls) environment
