Senior Electrical Project Engineer

About the role
The Senior Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and ensuring successful execution of capital projects that improve safety, reliability, quality, energy efficiency, and operational performance across the manufacturing site. The role leads electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development and front-end engineering through detailed design, construction, commissioning, start-up, and project closeout. The position ensures that electrical systems are designed and delivered safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable engineering standards, local regulations, approved budgets, and project schedules.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the electrical engineering scope of capital projects from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, construction, commissioning, start-up, and project closeout
- Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within approved budgets
- Develop project engineering plans, technical scopes, schedules, and deliverables in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
- Monitor project progress, identify technical or execution risks, and implement appropriate mitigation actions
- Develop, review, and approve electrical engineering designs for medium
- and low-voltage distribution systems, MCCs, transformers, switchgear, cables, grounding, protection systems, and associated electrical infrastructure
- Review electrical calculations, technical specifications, drawings, equipment selections, and engineering documentation
- Coordinate and manage engineering consultants, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and other external service providers
- Provide field engineering support during construction, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing
- Ensure electrical designs, installations, and project execution comply with applicable electrical codes, engineering standards, regulatory requirements, environmental requirements, and electrical safety practices
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, EHS, Automation, Procurement, and other relevant functions to ensure project requirements are clearly defined and effectively delivered About you
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum 7 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within industrial manufacturing, food processing, chemical, petrochemical, energy, or other process industries
- Demonstrated experience delivering capital projects involving electrical engineering systems and infrastructure
- Strong technical knowledge of power distribution systems, motor control centers, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, grounding, and industrial electrical installations
- Good understanding of engineering design standards, electrical safety requirements, construction practices, and project management principles
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple sites as required
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional certification is advantageous
- Experience managing contractors, engineering consultants, and suppliers in capital project environments
