About the Role
Modernform is looking for an International Procurement Manager to build and lead our overseas supply base. You will identify and qualify new manufacturers abroad, negotiate commercial terms that hold up over time, and make sure the products we import arrive at the quality, cost and timing our Sales and Marketing teams have committed to. This is a hands-on strategic role: you will be on factory floors overseas as often as you are in a spreadsheet. ##

Key Responsibilities
•      Source, qualify and select new overseas suppliers from genuine manufacturing sources; negotiate and close commercial terms that deliver the best total value to the company.
•      Analyse economic and market trends and manage risk in international trade, with particular depth in the China market.
•      Build and execute a strategic supplier partnership development plan; evaluate suppliers on a defined review cycle.
•      Control the end-to-end purchasing and subcontracting process in line with SOPs; audit and follow up to keep the process accurate and transparent.
•      Present products and services from approved partners to support new market entry and market expansion.
•      Conduct overseas factory audits and on-site quality inspections.
•      Establish and maintain strong long-term relationships with international trading partners.
•      Manage supplier performance across cost, quality and delivery, and drive issues through to resolution.
•      Supervise, coach and develop the overseas procurement team; set individual development plans and evaluate results.
•      Prepare and manage the department's annual budget and report performance to senior management.
•      Support and participate in the company's safety, occupational health and environment programmes. ## Performance Measures (KPIs)
•      First Time Quality (FTQ) above 90%
•      Cost reduction achieved (%)
•      Non-conformance report (NCR) rate
•      Number of suppliers developed into strategic trading partners
•      Number of product/material innovations sourced and approved for use
•      New suppliers added by category (%)
•      Corrective action requests (CAR) closed from audits (%)
•      Team training / OJT completion and pass rate; individual development plans completed
•      Supplier quality development audits completed (%)
•      Reduction in workplace accidents ## Qualifications
•      Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Chinese language, or a related field.
•      Minimum 5 years' experience in international sourcing / overseas procurement, including at least 3 years at manager level.
•      Chinese language proficiency at HSK 5 or above (HSK 6 preferred) and good command of English — both are used daily for negotiation and technical discussion.
•      Strong strategic negotiation and communication skills.
•      Analytical thinking and planning capability; comfortable working from data.
•      Product and process knowledge in furniture manufacturing: raw materials, production methods, and the ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical specifications.
•      Solid procurement discipline: supplier selection and evaluation, quality control, and procurement risk management.
•      Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); working knowledge of Power BI and AI tools is an advantage.
•      Strong time management and the ability to work under pressure.
•      Willing and able to travel overseas regularly (primarily China), with the cultural fluency to negotiate effectively in that environment. ## What We Look For
•      Leadership presence and sound judgement when problems surface without warning
•      High ownership and composure under pressure
•      Attention to detail — in specifications, in contracts, in inspection
•      A constructive, positive approach to difficult conversations
•      Genuine team player who works well across Sales, Marketing, Design, Finance and Legal
