Marine Superintendent

About the role
Responsible for overseeing and managing deck operations to ensure safe and continuous vessel operations throughout the shipping route. The role involves monitoring vessel readiness and compliance with applicable standards, ensuring the safety of crew, cargo, and vessels, and overseeing maritime security and environmental requirements. This position also coordinates with vessels, provides operational guidance and support, and organizes training to develop essential crew competencies in navigation, vessel operations, and equipment handling, ensuring compliance with maritime laws, regulations, customer requirements, and company policies.

Key responsibilities

- Control and manage deck operations to ensure continuous operations throughout the shipping route
- Monitor, inspect, and track vessel readiness and specifications in accordance with standards for each vessel type and established plans
- Oversee work performance with priority on safety of crew, cargo, and vessel
- Monitor and ensure compliance with maritime security measures and related requirements
- Control and oversee prevention of water pollution and compliance with maritime environmental requirements
- Coordinate with vessels to communicate information, data, and work-related requirements
- Provide consultation, advice, and support for problem-solving during navigation and vessel operations
- Plan and conduct training to develop knowledge and skills for crew members in navigation, vessel operation, and equipment use
- Inspect and oversee compliance with maritime laws, regulations, international standards, and requirements of relevant authorities
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve operational standards to ensure safe, correct, and goal-aligned operations About you
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Science, Nautical Science, or related field
- 3-5 years or more experience in oil tanker or maritime cargo shipping operations
- Previous experience as Captain, Chief Officer, or equivalent position for at least 1-2 years
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and ERP systems
- Good to excellent communication skills in Thai and English
- Availability for on-call duty in case of urgent or emergency situations
- Knowledge of maritime commercial laws and regulations both domestic and international
- Proficiency in BASSnet software
