Full-Stack Developer

Come work for the United Nations. This position is within the Enterprise Solutions Service, Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS). OICT/ESS develops and supports a wide range of enterprise solutions and provides products and services that support the work of the United Nations. We are looking for a full-stack developer to maintain an existing system ( React (TypeScript) frontend, a Fastify (Node.js/TypeScript) API, and a PostgreSQL database running on AzureSQL Server Database Administrator) Scope of Work: System Setup
· Maintain and support the system.
· Triage, reproduce, and fix defects reported by users, monitoring alerts, or the automated test suite, within agreed response times
· Design, build, and ship enhancements and change requests raised by the business, following the system's existing architecture, authorization model, and coding conventions
· Maintain the fine-grained authorization rules (PostgreSQL row-level security) whenever a change touches who can see or edit what
· Keep the automated test suite (unit, integration, and end-to-end) current as the system changes, so regressions are caught before release
· Use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) as part of the day-to-day development workflow, under the same code-review and testing standards as any other change
· Provide operational support: monitor system health and alerts, respond to incidents, and carry out routine operations such as the annual filing-cycle creation, scheduled CSV imports, and data retention/purge jobs
· Apply security patches and dependency updates, and keep vulnerability scanning findings resolved on an ongoing basis
· Maintain the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure-as-code (Bicep or equivalent) for the application's Azure environments
· Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and the project's change log as the system evolves

Experience:
· 3+ years of professional full-stack software development experience, including maintaining a live production application
· Strong hands-on experience with React and modern TypeScript/JavaScript
· Backend development experience with Node.js (Fastify, Express, or similar)
· Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, including writing and reviewing SQL and understanding relational data modelling
· Experience supporting or maintaining a production application on a cloud platform (Microsoft Azure preferred; AWS/GCP experience also considered)
· Understanding of authentication/authorization concepts (OIDC/OAuth2, role-based or row-level access control)
· Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
· Comfortable using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) as part of a modern development workflow
· Good understanding of secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10) and routine dependency/vulnerability patching
· Able to work from an existing, unfamiliar codebase — reading and following established conventions rather than rewriting them
· Strong people skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. The position is based in Bangkok, Thailand.
