In this role, you will manage ocean import shipments end-to-end in Thailand, from receiving the pre-alert through customs clearance coordination, delivery order issuance, and cargo release. You will make sure documentation, system milestones and job costs are accurate and timely, and keep customers and internal stakeholders informed throughout the shipment lifecycle.
Your contribution will be pivotal in delivering the reliable, transparent import experience our customers expect from DP World.
Key Accountabilities:
• Process ocean import shipments end-to-end, from receipt of pre-alert and shipping documents through arrival notice, delivery order issuance, and cargo release, in line with customer standard operating procedures.
• Receive and verify import documentation including Master and House Bill of Lading, commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin against shipment details, raising discrepancies with the overseas agent or Customer Service before cargo arrival.
• Compile and hand over verified import documentation to the in-house Customs Clearance team, monitoring clearance progress and following up promptly on holds, queries, and additional document requests.
• Coordinate trucking and delivery arrangements with vendors to meet agreed delivery schedules, confirming equipment availability and special handling requirements.
• Input and maintain accurate shipment milestones and job costs in the operating system, verify vendor invoices and supporting charges against agreed rates, and resolve discrepancies so that files close accurately within the agreed closing cycle.
• Monitor shipment status and communicate delays, demurrage and detention exposure or exceptions proactively to Customer Service and the Assistant Manager.
• Maintain organised and audit-ready shipment files in line with internal compliance, documentation retention and data quality standards, and support ocean export shipment handling during peak periods or volume surges.
• Work in line with DP World Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) standards, completing mandatory training within required timeframes, reporting incidents and near misses promptly, and following safe working practices when attending ports, terminals, warehouses, depots or customer sites. Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
• Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business or equivalent disciplines.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in ocean import operations within a freight forwarding, non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) or international logistics environment.
• Working knowledge of ocean import documentation (Master and House Bill of Lading, FCL/LCL), Incoterms and Thai customs clearance requirements, sufficient to prepare complete and accurate documentation for the Customs Clearance team.
• Accurate data entry and system discipline, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook, and the ability to learn freight forwarding operating systems quickly.
• Strong service mindset, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple shipments under time pressure.
• Good communication skills in Thai and English, written and spoken. Note: The advertised job title is being used for Talent Attraction and job advertisement purposes.
