Supporting Actions

1) Preventive Maintenance and Plant Operations

To ensure that PM activities are performed as per schedule to maximize the availability of the equipment for smooth plant operations.

• To ensure that PM schedule is followed and to support subordinates to complete PM through SAP in time for entire unit
• To do monthly planning for allocation of work to the subordinates
• To improve the reliability of the electrical equipment
• To review the schedule in consultation with process requirements and take necessary actions
• To ensure and monitor timely implementation of maintenance activities, and reduce slippage
• To ensure proper operation of all electrical installations for optimum performance
• To review existing maintenance practices in the plant and revise as per requirements
• To evaluate the equipment efficiencies and compare with group units to benchmark the same 
• To implement improvement points from the learnings of the Group’s Electrical System as applicable
• To plan and execute modifications to equipment for improvement of efficiency
• To receive feedback from internal & external customers and identify improvement potential for reduction in maintenance cost & manpower cost
• To procure and maintain spares to support any breakdown/critical requirements/modifications in coordination with the Purchase & Stores Department
• To attend all production specific job requirement related to Electrical Department
• To do breakdown / why-why analysis to find root cause of breakdowns and attend the same to avoid similar failure in the future (Root Cause Analysis - RCA)

2) Planning, Budgeting & Cost Control

To plan and prepare the Electrical maintenance and Projects budget and to control the costs within the approved budget.

• To prepare annual budget for Electrical maintenance
• To compare actual expenses against budget and take appropriate actions to reduce variances
• To identify potential cost saving areas and to plan for necessary actions
• To control costs / realize savings in the following:

• In Lighting, HVAC & Motors
• Transmission & distribution losses
• Optimization in operations
• Innovations and new technologies 
• Electrical spares / inventory

• To formulate improvement proposals and their implementation
• To perform analysis of monthly power bills and plan for the actions required to take advantage of TOU tariff, for reduction in power costs
• To prepare drawings, material procurement, to carry out modification in plant with minimum production stoppages

3) Work Environment and Safety

To ensure safe working environment. To ensure effective implementation of organization initiatives namely ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 and achieving Zero non- conformance and Zero accidents.

• To review all the Safety procedures, training and resources for compliance of safety norms
• To monitor safety data and take appropriate actions if required
• To ensure that procedures, resources and training for emergency situations are in place 
• To help and manage situation in case of any emergency
• To ensure proper Earthing system is in place
• To check the settings of the protective relays and other critical equipment
• To ensure and check all the critical electrical interlocks in the plants
• To ensure the availability of electrical tools and safety equipment as per the required ratings
• To control all safety parameters strictly for protection of Environment, Equipment & Product Quality
• To initiate the Implementation of Preventive actions arising out of internal and external environmental complaints
• To help other sections in case of any emergency
• To adhere to work permit procedures & follow LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) for safe work practices 
• To raise awareness among employees about advantages of using safety appliances and PPEs

4) Modification and Improvement Projects

To plan and implement new projects and modification jobs within the scheduled time and budget.

• To support engineering activities for all modification jobs such as installation, engineering, FAT, SAT, commissioning and startup
• To plan and prepare scheme for modification jobs, invite quotations and prepare Technical comparison
• To plan, coordinate & control execution of project works involving installation & commissioning of Electrical system 
• To complete all modification jobs in time as per the required standards
• To prepare electrical specifications and drawings
• To prepare MOC (Management of Change) as required
• To do Technical evaluation and selection of equipment for entire electrical system
• To support the Purchase team for technical negotiations with vendors
• To monitor progress of supplier/ contractors for adhering schedule of delivery of materials
• To monitor the installation and commissioning activities related to Electrical Department

5) Legal Compliances

To ensure that the company is compliant with all the legal compliances and statutory requirements.

• To do liaison work with Electrical power suppliers and Government authorities for statutory compliances
• To file energy audit reports to the Government
• To coordinate with the Electrical Inspector for the plant visits and renewal of licenses
• To prepare, maintain, review and update all the required documents

6) People Development

To identify training needs of the subordinates and arrange for Technical and HR trainings to enhance their skills.

• To prepare staff training & development plan
• To prepare and plan On the Job Training to develop required skills of subordinates
• To coordinate with HR department for leave, OT, attendance, trainings, company policies & rules
• To monitor Kaizen scheme and devise plans for generation and execution
• To monitor skill gaps of concerned employees
• To empower the subordinates on their job and activities for taking higher responsibilities in future
• To prepare annual training needs calendar 
• To conduct internal and external trainings
• To provide on the job and technical trainings to enhance the skills of the technicians 
• To follow the WCM principles for Autonomous maintenance and implement the same in the plant
• To perform WCM, 5S, KSS, QCC, TPM and other small group activities as per the company assigned work to be carried out as per schedule
