System Engineer – Video Platform Operations

Responsibilities

1. Daily Operational Tasks

o Monitor traffic and service availability across the Video Platform.

o Investigate and troubleshoot system issues promptly.

o Create and maintain technical documentation for Standard Operating Procedures

(SOPs).

o Prepare daily/weekly system performance reports to ensure high availability and

assist in capacity planning.

o Open and manage escalation tickets with Tier-2 support, ensuring detailed issue

documentation and tracking.

2. System Management

o Maintain and perform routine checks on Linux-based servers (Ubuntu, CentOS).

o Monitor and fine-tune application performance using tools like Zabbix.

o Support and maintain caching and streaming components such as Nginx, Varnish,

and Packagers.

o Assist in configuring and automating repetitive tasks via Shell or Python

scripting.

o Collaborate with cross-functional teams and follow operational procedures to

ensure SLA compliance.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills

• Operating Systems: Strong hands-on experience with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS).

• Scripting: Proficient in Shell Script and Python.

• Web Infrastructure: Experience with Nginx, Varnish, and Zabbix monitoring.

• Networking & Protocols: Solid understanding of HTTP/S, streaming protocols, and

how CDN works.

• Automation: Familiarity with Ansible for infrastructure automation and deployment.

Soft Skills

• Good communication skills for effective collaboration and escalation.

• Strong documentation skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently with a proactive attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting video streaming platforms or CDN operations.

• Familiarity with video encoding workflows and monitoring tools.

• Basic knowledge of middleware systems in OTT/VoD infrastructure is a plus.
